DE - Jason Taylor - lock
DT - Manual Wright
DT - Holliday/Traylor (could one get cut)
DE - Roth - Carter could get cut, would seem expendible. Not because he didnt perform but because Roth was a 2nd rounder and should be able to start
OLB - Crowder - Lock
MLB - Thomas - Lock
OLB - ? probably draft
CB - Travis Daniels - Lock
S - Schulters - ? could get cut
S - ? Draft or free agency ?
CB - Poole/Draft/Free Agency/Mitchell

CB and secondary doesnt look good. Depth looks worse. Pope has played well but doesnt fit the mold, could he be used as a starting OLB?

I would like to get people opinions on worst case scenario, and if we would still be alright afterwards.

I think our Dline should be fine if it turns out like that. Our LB obviously are missing one guy and I am pretty sure everyone would want a definite starting CB.

good thing we have a great coaching staff.

Schulters is a free agent. All that is left is Tillman and Bell.

You're saying if these guys don't start, they get cut? That would kill our depth.

Bell should probably be penciled in as a starter with Tillman possibly in the running as well. Don't forget about Donnie Spragan either.

There is also the chance that once other moves are made, or the CBA goes through, that we can resign Madison or another FA secondary.

Carter it looks like has been asked to restructuere and hopefully he does, he really performed well last year. We are doing really well on the D-Line except we need a young NT which we will address in the draft for sure.

For the LB spots we are needing one more OLB and we will be in good shape. I think this will be addresed in the draft early. We would still have Pope and Spragen for depth, or possibly Spragen can start depending on the rookie we get.

Secondary is still scary for me but I think Saban will work it out this year. I would bet we get some Vet CB to come in to replace Sam and Daniels would start again. Poole is expected to be the nickle guy and would surely be an upgrade to Howard. Mitchell and probably another FA/Draft would also be there for depth.
Safety right now we have Bell and Tillman to start and they are coming with a cheap price tag. I like Bell but look for Tillman to be a depth guy. I would say we would sign a FA to compete for starting job again with Tillman.

I think this will be a D heavy draft. Still need youth in the front 7 and I would bet a NT and OLB will be taken in the top 3. The 4th round pick will again go for the Secondary. That leaves the 2nd/3rd for an O-Line guy, maybe QB.

Look for a FA signing at S and CB, also for the NT if Traylor doesn't come back. Just my opinion but I feel we will be in a better situation on D this year, with the core guys still here and in their 2nd year in this system. 2007 is when this should all come together.

I disagree about safety. I think Bell should start. He is such a big playmaker. Just look at his forced fumble against San Diego and his forth down stop against New York.

i like our young d-tackles... vickerson showed promise last offseason and im hoping he can surprise... and wright shows hes got the tools and hopefully this year hes ready to use them consistantly...

our secondary is definately the biggest area for concern though...

Well, I'd like Rob Carpenter with our top pick and then Richard Marshall with our 2nd pick...I can see us getting a DT in the 4th round.

Ozzy rules!!
