We take a bunch of players at one position and figure one of them has to pan out. Its similer to a situation I had doing a fantasy football draft. i had two consecutive picks because i was the last pick in the 5th round and first pick in 6th round. I couldn't decide between Kitna and Romo, so i took both figuring odds are one of them has to pan out.

It's obvious you don't know what the strategy is.. This is the strategy-

Obviously Merling and Langford won't be playing the same position, .. And in case you didn't notice, we needed alot of O-line help.. Jake Long and Murphy/Thomas wont be playing the same position.. Our biggest need was o-line and O-line depth.

And Mormino sucked hard before he got hurt.. he got annihilated in the preseason games, He was weak and slow, just getting killed out there. And Smiley has shown to be injury prone. So 2 guards were needed ! And we got two good ones late. One who was projected by some as the 2nd best guard i the draft (Murphy), and another who was the 2nd fastest lineman at the combine (Thomas)

What is wrong with you? Man people like you annoy me.

First off, the guy is entitled to his opinion without having to deal with childish attacks.

Secondly, Merling and Langford may very well play the same position. A thread in a fan forum is not the ultimate decision on that. Last time I checked, the coaches will make that determination, and it likely won't come until these guys get on the field of play.

Incidentally, esc097, there could be another explanation for multiple picks at the same or similar positions: Parcells and co. stuck to their draft board and simply picked the best player available based on their evaluations, and if that meant taking multiple players at the same position, so be it.
