For a team that has never played in it and only have 2 players Ferguson and Porter who have ever played in a 3-4 defense i say we did a pretty good job. Yes our rush defense didnt do that well LB duty is completely different in a 3-4 as we all know so they are learning and nothing is better than game experience. But contribute some of that running to the jets o-line. The big thing i noticed as we all did was poor secondary play well in a 3-4 correct me if i am wrong but isnt your secondary on an island if you dont get pressure your by yourself no LB dropping nothing in the way of help, but they need to do some adjusting and step up big time especially with he passing attack we are about to face. I think it was an adjustment but i think we played well and i think we can address things during the week and be ready to go against the Cards

I sure hope so or else Fitz and Boldin 60 yard TD's will be coming left and right, especially with lost Crocker out there, man does he suck.

Our defense was competitive and competent. A big improvement from last year. There were a number of mistakes with the defense, so I think you are correct in your statement. Matt Roth looked lost, and he is going to get picked on this year.

I still debate the merits of the 3-4 defense, but thats just me. I'd rather win the game in the trenches (even if it may be "vanilla") and the 4-3 is designed to do that. The most solid defense we've had was in the Wannstadt years when we had some great 4-3 DTs that completely shut the run game down. Zack Thomas didn't hurt either, but the 4-3 allowed Thomas to operate as he did.

The "No Name Defense" and "Killer Bees" were alot better, than the JJ and Wanny defenses.and they were 3-4..Run by great

The defense looked pretty solid in the 3-4 yesterday. You have to like the pressure they put on Favre even with his quick release. They gave up some yards, but they held the Jets in check pretty well barring the Favre miracle touchdown and the lapse in coverage on the beautiful play action he threw.

I like the pressure we were able to generate, but we weren't able to do much of anything else to be honest. The Jets ran the ball on us when they needed to, they made our secondary look horrible, and in the end they won a game {20-14} that should have never been that close....

The Phinz defense looked outmatched from the first TD bomb to Cotchery. Not to mention that late in the game {when we usually look somewhat fresh} they appeared more wilted from the heat than the Jets offense did. I was not impressed that's all. Hopefully next Sunday we'll see a more consistent / focused effort....

IN TUNA WE TRUST.....

I was impressed in the 4th quarter, our defense was asked to give a stop. That they did.. Good job for a young defense..

Crowder looked horrible yesterday. I cringe when I read about the team working on an extension with him.

Roth needs to be a rush lb that drops into coverage only a handful of times.

I was impressed with the penetration Starks was getting. He needs to learn how to finish. He finishes and Farve isn't completing that 4th down Hail Mary.

What the hell are you talking about ? The jets had 3 drives in the 4th quarter, and every one of them resulted in a 3 and out. The defense made some key stops on the Jets in the 4th. And they looked miles better than last year when the D was dead tired with Washington running the ball all over our D in the 4th quarter.,

I agree. The defense did all they could in the second half to give us a chance. I am use to seeing the defense get run over in the second half and not be able to stop the run. I was way impressed with the young defense. Roth had a great strip although he wiffed on the sack his motor kept him going only to strip favre and prevent a score. Merling had a great stop and Fergusson(sp) looked like a probowler. This defense was better than last year and we lost two hall of famers. The only real bone head play was jason allen on the hail mary pass at the end of the 1st half.
