I'm beginning to believe that all those guys we shipped off, didn't resign or cut - the ones that were trying to hard to bite their tongues but just couldn't - were only trying to let everyone know that the coaching staff didn't have a clue.

We rationalized every move w "he's immature", "he's a cancer", "he's a loser", etc. But could it have just simply been frustration? Perhaps we don't like the way the guys did it but perhaps it was unbearable to know you could be better but your moronic coaching staff doesn't have a clue? Isn't that what Odrick threw a fit about on the sideline?

Odrick, Starks, Matthews, Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Suh, Dansby, others? And let's not forget, most players didn't understand trading Vontae or letting a guy they respected in Bush just walk. I'm not saying anything about how good or not good these players were or are. Just suggesting they were / have been trying to tell someone, anyone that their HC sucks?

Why do most free agents come to Miami and stop producing? Why do players who Philbin didn't want end up doing well elsewhere? Philbin got rid of a lot of talent. Vontae Davis, John Jerry, and even Incognito are all starting for other teams and doing okay. Nolan Carroll, who was never all that great in Miami, is actually looking half-decent with the Eagles. Players look bad in Miami because of the poor schemes, playcalling, and gameplanning of this inept coaching staff.

(Disclaimer: Of course, this team has also had it's share of crappy players due to terrible GM decisions.)

3-2-1..."it is Jeff Ireland's fault".

It was obvious that Joe wanted certain players out and NEVER could coach anyone with an edge to him.

Carroll is better than Brice McCain and Jamar Taylor. He was when he was here, not just now. He gets a bad rap for 3 PI's in a nationally televised game vs the Bills but was pretty solid most of the time.

Its not fair to lump them together. Different players had different issues at different times. Some were desevedly shipped off like Wallace, he quit, cant do that, and even he was remorseful about that in recent interviews.

True; that's why I purposely didn't say that he sucked... he was average with ups and downs. Evidently, like other ex-Dolphins, he thrives in a better system. I wish Miami had a coaching staff that could get the best out of their players and gameplan around their strengths!

The funniest thing about this thread is this has been happening for years and folks are acting like this staff is something knew.

I suppose it has been happening all along but for me it just hit me that perhaps it's all really been very simple in that the guys just haven't respected him from the beginning.

i understand that. Just suggesting that the common link was / is the lack of respect for Joe and/or lack of belief in the system. What Wallace did was horrid. I don't know that he does that to Mike Tomlin but who knows. The strong willed guys around here - who often were the strong / tough guy players get dumped when they speak up. Remember the "leadership council"? Every guy on it was gone the next season. Way let the team know feedback is not wanted / will not be tolerated - LOL.

Trading Davis really pissed me off... I cannot believe that happened. We let Bush go and I wasn't happy. Then last year we let Clay go... Could not believe that either.

You can't give away your developed/drafted players for free like that and expect to win with free agents. I'm pretty sure most if not all of Miller, OV, Matthews and Shelby will be wearing different color jerseys next year and people will try to rationalize it, but it will bite the team in the ass, per usual.

I remember drafting Davis and Smith everyone was like we have our new surtain and Madison corners. We were right they just play for different teams cause Joe didn't like the attitudes.

did anyone catch during last nights game they said 35 of the 53 players on the Pack were drafted by them and only 3 players (Kuhn, Peppers and James Jones) have ever worn another uniform. I guess the rest are UDFA or something. Amazing.

Philbin likes players that he can push over and now we have a team of pushovers that just gets pushed over all over the field. Careful what you wish for there Joe.

I don't think this has anything to do with Philbin.

It has more to do with the South Florida life style and coaches that are not very tough.

Players left before with all the previous coaches, this is the nature of the NFL.

I am VERY curious what Odrick was yelling at Philbin about though. If anyone really knows what that was about I'd like to hear it.

That approach will never work here.

They would have to be patient enough to actually develop their own players.

Every off season the GM (Read the OWNER) tries to stir excitement by making a big splash with free agents.

It is almost ALWAYS better to draft your own guys and develop them.

Just like it is almost always a better idea to have the GM actually manage the team and not the owner, or the owner's lackey
