I hate to say it, but the future (at least the next couple of years) really depends on how he comes back next season.

We need a QB who can win some games with his arm and its become painfully obvious that Joey can't do that. We have until April to determine if Daunte can be this person, otherwise we seriously need to address this issue in the draft. There is no QB in free agency who would be any better than Harrington and trading for David Carr would be the second coming of Joey.

If Daunte can come back and even be 80-90 percent of the QB he has been, than we can be a playoff team. If not, we're looking at another mediocre season at best.

We can always draft a QB and start over....Joey is not the answer, DC is damaged goods and Lemon is a backup QB at best.

How can you say Daunte has not shown he can win with his arm. He has multiple 30-plus touchdown seasons, something that hasn't been seen around here in over a decade. He's capable of making plays not many QB's in this league can make.

Daunte is capable of winning with his arm, but he has to show he can be healthy.

I second this post. :cooldude:

If that's indeed the case we are doomed for at least another year. :boohoo:

You mean start over like the Lions did with Joey, or the Browns did with Couch or the Texans did with Carr? There are no guarantees with young QB's. It's about 50 percent on most of these guys.

On the other hand, Daunte is a proven commodity in this league who has won games and been in the playoffs and been to pro bowls and played at an MVP level. I don't think we can give up on him yet.

Look at people who were ready to give up on Pennington and see how well he's played this season.

You know the likelihood of Daunte coming back and being what this team needs is really slim. It just is. We can all hope, but it's not much of a hope. A 30 yr old mobile qb with a bad knee who has had a somewhat inconsistent career without many wins starting for a team with a very unsettled offensive scheme and somehow leading us to the promised land... we're asking for a miracle.

personally, I think that Saban might be tempted to draft Jamarcus Russell to sit for a couple of years behind Daunte. Just a thought

Sorry, but as a realist I have given up on DC.

If I was Miami, I would draft Troy Smith and let him sit next year or until Culpepper needs to be replaced.

Every Dolphins fan should write the Dolphins front office and beg them not to pass on Troy Smith if he is on the board, which he most likely will be.

You're right my bad. What i went to say is without him being healthy he can't really do anything for us.

Our future hinges on whoever saban drafts for the QB position. Personally, I would love Troy Smith or Brian Brohm. Quinn to but hes way beyond our reach.

Smith and Brohm should be reachable if not downright available where we will be picking.

Pass on Russell though, would rather have a QB, not an athlete imitating one.

That's not a bad idea...we would have nothing to lose. Troy would at least bring a lot of excitement to the offense.

Pass.. he's just like Culpepper down to the descisions he makes. When i see him i see a younger Culpepper.
