our LAST 1st round QB pick

Their mourning period will he softened by having the most mechanically sound and NFL ready Qb from this years draft waiting in the wings. He will have had 3-4 years to learn under one of the greatest qb's of all time, and 3-4 years to work out his personal issues which are the only reason he wasn't a top 10 pick. Brady will torch the Phins for a few more years, and then Mallet will take over and do the same. And I'll be stuck listening to everyone and their mother up here talking about what a genius Bill B is for another 10 years.

And we'll all still be here one these boards arguing if we should trade for an agerage staring QB who is made to look like a football god by whatever 2nd round scrub this team is trying to pass off as a franchise Qb. While the rest of us will still be bitter from another year where we pass up on a potential franchise Qb to draft another ****ing gaurd.

Maybe or maybe not, time will tell will it not.

I'm not complaining about them not taking a QB in the first round at all, but if you read some of Shue's books on the subject, Marino was on their board, they just couldn't believe that he was still available. It was not a position of 'need', as you said, but when Marino was sitting there, Shue's just about came thru the phone getting the pick to the commish...

Look, any player you draft is a risk. JT and ZT probably two of the most revered players in Fins history were 3rd and 5th round choices, and not targeted any higher than they went by JJ... Naturally we all know the nauseating Brady 6th round pick story. I think too many Fins fans are hoping that every guy that takes a snap in a fins uniform is Dan Marino...get over it folks...Those guys only come around once in a while...
There's a common misconception that those of us who want an upgrade at the most important position in football are in search of the next Marino and want nothing less. While it would be awesome if we could get another HOF QB, the vast majority of us would be happy with just a good, solid starter. The closest we've had to that since Marino was Fiedler. And Pennington for a year. That's not going to cut it.
