Does you think our o-line needs new people to get better or do we just need to improve our guys?

We need to upgrade at C. Seth has been solid, but not great. He is the weak link...

And I think we need a road grater type RT. A guy that is a bulldozer in the run game...

We already have our future LT... his name is Vernon Carey :cooldude:

I voted "new people", though I rather agree with Alex - one person.

We need a serious left tackle... a scary, lane clearing left tackle.

I will say that if houck told me right now that we have someone who can become that, I'd believe him... but I wouldn't believe anyone else.

Not new people

up late again huh? late night crew... :)

What makes you say that?

He was a guard, is a right tackle... and you want to move him up another notch?

He's improved, I'm digging him... but he hasn't improved THAT much.

If I had to make a change, it'd be a top LT and he'd not be Carey who I think is doing just fine at RT.If we can get a top LT then fine but I'm not so worry about the o-line at this time.

We have that LT... its Veron Carey... He is great in pass pro. that is his strong suit... he has pretty much nuturalized every pass rusher he has faced.

He isnt great in run blocking though, which is what you want out of your RT. We need a reall road grater type for our RT...

the thing that is clear to me is the running game is severly limited because it cant go outside.

the fins need either a Tackle that can move in space or a strong pulling guard

If the O-line improves as much next year as it did this year we really are set

I would like another big name guy there though, whether it be a rookie or a vet

Carey aint a RT. He is not good in the run game. Thats what you want in your guards and RT. You want a guy with alot of drive. Carey doesnt drive.

However, he can handle some great pass rushers. He is a redshirted rookie. Most LTs start at RT for experience. Now, after a year, he will be ready to make the transition and be used to his strength.

Carey is also at RT out of necessity. Stockar is terrible, and McIntosh cant play RT. But Carey is big enough to hold his own on the right side.

I guarentee you we will go after more of a pure RT and that Carey will be starting at LT next season...

exactly... we need a true RT...

Our line would remain above average if we can get a better CENTER ...

CENTER is the captain and linchpin of the line ... a good CENTER makes everyone else better ...

We need something better than SETH ....

Technique matters, but I would rather have Talent AND Technique - so the line could become great !

I agree. The C is the QB of the o-line... he makes the reads... he makes the blocking calls. And to have more of a dominant C would impact our o-line tremendously...
