I'm back in Florida BABY!
Has GOT TO STOP! Now let me be the first to say, I am as much to blame as anyone for this. But, we have to stop worrying so much about where we are in the power rankings and what this "so called" expert or that "so called" expert says or doesn't say about our team. In the end, it doesn't make a single difference. Our Dolphins aren't going to play any better or worse based on power rankings. We ALL know that power rankings are nothing more than the "flavor of the month club"... a clut gets on a 3 game winning streak and they sky rocket... lose 2 games and they plummet back down the list... it will drive you nuts if you let it. It's like a poll in college football, in the end, it doesn't matter what the experts say, the best teams win out and make the playoffs regardless of their "power rankings".. Just like coach Saban told the Media this week concerning our record and standing. It's not about what the other teams do, it's about what we do. Well, the same goes for the fans. It's not about what Peter King, John Clayton, or Pete Prisco says.. it's about how our team performs week in and week out that will decide how the most important people perceive them.. and that's US, their fans. So let's stop obsessing about these power rankings and articles.. both good and bad... and just focus on our team and their performance week in and week out on the field. In the end, it's our opinions as FANS that matter.. We all know, right now we have a team that is average in some places, above average in others and below in others.. but a good coaching staff and as important we seem to have some chemistry.. we have the capability to be a very good team this year with some improvments in the penalty area and the secondary area... not to mention the O-Line continuing it's suprisingly positive play. Forget Peter King, Prisco, Salisbury and the others.. one thing and one thing only will bring us the attention of the NFL and NFL nation and that is WINNING! So, as mentioned before, let's let it be our voices as fans that matter, not a power ranking or Opinion Article in ESPN!

I enjoy that crap even though it is meaningless. I will still read it and take it how I want to.

Ok, first of all, I said I'm guilty of it too and, I didn't tell you to stop reading it or taking it how you want too. I simply said that someone getting all jacked up over something as useless as a "power ranking" is pretty inconsequencial in the long run. That we all need to take them for what they are and acting like some do, as if they are the end all be all of the performance gauge of our team.

Wow, this is only the 2nd thread about this today? Then I feel pretty good. How many Ronnie Brown will do or will not do this or that threads have there been today? Or Gus is or isn't the quarterback for us? or Losman will play and we'll kill them or Holcomb will play and we might be in trouble threads? This is only the 2nd? Then I feel pretty good about that!

I like these rankings because they are stat based and not opinion. A true "POWER" ranking:

EXACTLY! Thank you Nublar. FACTS. Imagine that! Something we can really sink our teeth into. Something tangible to look at and draw conclusions based off of. As usualy, NUBLAR comes through with the save!

Nothing

Nothing we obsess about on this board will have any effect on the Dolphins, so there's no reason we can't concern ourselves with the power rankings. If we're ranked #8 next week after a good performance, us fans bragging about it won't make the Dolphins overconfident.

Bragging rights are a part of sports and always will be, and power rankings give fans of teams an extra chance to exercise their right to brag.

And I completely agree, i'm saying it does some people no good though, that work themselves up over it. Bragging is great. That's what i'm advocating. Rather than worry over what they say, let's get together and brag and do what we do best on Finheaven and that's debate amongst ourselves and let the "experts" say what they want and let them eat crow and enjoy every bite when we prove them all wrong.

And I agree with this. Nothing better than having a reason to celebrtae your team.

What floors me is the hand-wringing and elevated tissue-usage that ensues when one of those rankings come out and it portrays the Phins negatively; or when a sportswriter DARES to write something negative about the team.

Like what somebody writes about the team will affect their standing in the coaches poll, or something like that...

Amen..........and I pointed this out earlier. Talking about the power rankings isn't even constuctive anymore, it's just a chance for some random thread starter to start calling sportswriters names and proceed to cry a little bit.
