After watching preseason games, I think the refs will be our ticket to an awesome offense. We could even be better than last year. They seem to call everything, and if that is the case our defense will be that much better than everyone eles's and our offense will get free yards.

Um...except that we play a very physical pass coverage which means that other teams will probably be scoring on us a LOT more if the refs are calling interference on Mad/Surt for playing to their strengths. Teams that play Zone however will benefit...we just aren't one of them.

Like Wannstedt said though they aren't worried about within 5 yards. We don't get flagged for interference, our corners Madison and Surtain are just too experienced in our system to get flagged for that. They get flagged for chucking and holding all the time, on the other hand. We'll probably get flagged in the secondary a little tiny bit more than usual, but not the same way that a lot of teams with crappy corners will get flagged.

Remember, crappy corners means harder for them to adjust to the new style of play.

I don't agree with that analysis. Man vs. Zone is not equivalent to Physical vs Non-Physical. Some zone defenders are going to have a heck of a time adjusting to this rule because they are use to getting away with a lot of touching before the ball gets there.

Its not even that press coverage teams will have a tougher time. Its just teams with corners that like to push around with the receiver about 8 yards down the field and try and get away with it. Specifically, the way the pats play. They don't necessarily play press. They play off the line then bring their corners and sit on the short routes and go and maul the receiver about 8 yards off the ball.

We do our mauling right at the line of scrimmage.
