I remember back in training camp that alot of people (myself included) thought that our offensive line would gain some toughness this season

The prevailing thought was that new additions such as the fiesty, prone-to-scuffles Roth along with the talented Carter and Holliday would force our O-Line to step up, stick up for themselves and each other; thus, they would become a stronger, tougher unit

add in Houck, the supposed guru and it seemed inevitable in my mind at least

i realize that everything takes time, but through 2 games, i see no such toughness, scuffles, or taunts. i still read that the line lacks toughness and i heard jason cole say that nobody on this line has any fire, except maybe Hadnot.

i can accept that they may not be a talented group, but considering the D's physical nature, i expect the O-Line to follow suit.

your thoughts?

btw, this is my 500 post and i just wanna say how much i appreciate this site and its members (except the bills contingent)

it takes a while to establish yourself on this forum and i feel like im on my way. Thanks Again!

i dont know. i heard that vernon carey is doing purty darn good. i hear hes been pretty much shutdown on whomever he has been put on. i heard he controlled abraham pretty well when they finally put him on him. could be wrong also. but i think we just NEED a new lt and center. rex seems solid. i think vernon will be rock hard at rt. once it all gets sorted out.

i agree on carey. hes doing a fine job, imo.

i was sure that these guys would have a chip on their shoulder this year (the D has one they never had under wanny), but i havent seen it

btw, your location says your in iraq. are you in the armed forces?

well congrats on your 500th post:clap: , even though I don't agree one bit with it. Everyone has opinions based on what they see in games but this just doesn't make sence to me.

I posted a very similar thread regarding the play of our O-Line, I kinda wish you would have posted this their as some arguements have all ready been made both ways.

But What makes you say our line isn't playing with toughness? To me toughness is doing your job regardless of who you are facing not fighting, or cheap shots or getting in peoples face after plays and they have done that(their job that is).

Saban preaches discipline and scuffles and taunts, which I guess are how you view toughness, Saban and most people that really understand the game see as a weakness.

One of the things I have always admired about the Phins (except the pretty aqua and orange uniforms;) ) is how they win and lose with class. We don't have a "rodney harrison" type player anywhere on our team and I'm very glad for that.

So far this season our O-Line has produced, blocked, and done a pretty good job overall. If they don't change their play at all we will have a very good year.

We'll find out how tough they are this Sunday.....

If they can protect Frerotte most of the time, open some running lanes, and keep the chains moving, I'll be satisfied. It wont be easy against this Panthers DL though....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

bumped for a follow-up

i thought they really established themselves in this game.

i was also pleased to see them stick up for Gus when he mixed it up with rucker in the closing seconds of the first half-getting into those scuffles i mentioned above

this group is coming along!

I think the o-line has played pretty good considering the fact that this is the 1st year in houck's line system and that not all of them have played together that much....I think we have talent on the line that just hasn't been realized but i think houck will turn it around

yeah. im more concerned with their attitude than their overall play right now

i was really happy to see them push some guys around and be nasty

so while i dont expect any pro bowlers, i expect aggressiveness and attitude and its starting to come through a bit

it looks like they are starting to beleive in themselves

can i ask why mcdougle is playing poorly or if he wasn't, why is he a backup? isn't he suppose to be avery good player?

who cares about atitude? just protect the qb and open holes up for the rb
