Our owner opens his pie hole!

Ok, now I get it it.

Players and coaches who actually have a roll in the outcome of what happens on the field should learn when to keep their mouths shut and owners should be allowed to spew whatever nonsense pops into their head... Greatest Mich QB? Maybe Best Miami QB ever?

Thank you! Players play, coaches coach, owners STFU and write checks!

IMO owners should remain in the background STFU and write the checks. No need for him to come out and add bullet board material such as Henne being the greatest QB in Michigan history when some guy who went there recently and plays in our division and has 3 SB rings may have something to say about that. Expectation that he'll be the best in Dolphin history? Um, time will tell, but I saw both Marino and Henne in their 1st year's at starters and there's no comparison. Save the bravado for the players, STFU and write checks especially given that this regime doesn't like all this kind of chatter going public. That's all I'm saying.

Well go make a few billion buy the team. Then you're opinion will matter and you can STFU and just sit there and write checks.

Thanks for the suggestion pal. The only problem is according to your logic, your opinion doesn't matter either unless you've also made a few billion and have bought the team, but I sincerely appreciate you sharing your opinion.

Yeah, I caught the sarcasm in the post. I think you misunderstood my response. I was trying to agree with him. Anyways, there's quite a difference between a ****y, mischievous head coach having faith in his team than a new owner having faith in his team. The owner OWNS his team, he can say what he wants about his team in the offseason. He put his money into the team to make sure the team has what it needs to win. Rex Ryan is a coach, it's his job to get the players ready to play, not making guarantees in the middle of the season. If anything, let your players make the guarantees...they are the ones out their working their ***** off...not the coach.
You're right. Add to this the fact that Ryan says it at every possible opportunity whereas Ross has said it once. The funny thing is how in this situation the media is painting Ross as delusional but Ryan as being realistic.

"Chad has been the greatest quarterback University of Michigan has had," said Ross. "And I'm sure that I'm hoping, as is everyone else, that he goes down as the greatest quarterback in Miami Dolphins history -- and you know what that will mean."

I don't see a thing wrong with this. He didn't say maybe Henne will be the best Dolphins QB ever....Simply that he is hoping that Henne will be the best ever. Aren't you? If not, why aren't you?

I still have yet to be shown what he said that was wrong.

The irony is delicious.
What annoys us (well, me at least) is the fact that Ryan opens his mouth on every possible chance and the media has already crowned them while Ross is being treated as delusional.

Owners own the team. They are entitled to say or do whatever they want, just like any other owner of any other business.

Ross has done a fine job so far, and I see no reason he can't make his positive feelings about his company known. CEOs do this all the time.

For the record Tom Brady wasn't all that impressive in college so the statement "Best QB in Michigan History" would be accurate. Never did he say "the best QB to come out of Michigan".

Also as long as he's writing the checks and putting fourth the money to make this a better team/originization I think he's entitled to say WHATEVER the f he wants. When was the last time I team opened their "pie hole" and talked about how they looked forward to sitting at home in February? My guess is never. We had one of the best offseasons in the NFL this year and as long as our rookies come out to play we should be a much improved team. So much that we could very well be playing in February.

I'm not here telling the owner to STFU and write checks. He has earned the right to say what he wants to the media, in regards to his team. And you are right my opinion doesn't matter, and neither doe's anyone's on this board tell Ross calls them up and ask them for it.

Actually, you 've got it semi-backwards. If I had my way, EVERYBODY should STFU and play - but especially the on-field personnel when more often than not their mouths write checks that their play cannot cash. If anyone has the prerogative to talk up the team, it's the owner who's actually paying all these big mouths, and is the one who's hurting if he can't put enough butts in the seats. iMO, the one with the most at stake, has the most right, not privilege to speak his mind. Given that, as said, I wish everyone would just either let their bravado translate out into wins or smug grins in the owner's box.

The difference between Dan Snyder of the Skins, and Mr.-Mrs.(?) owner of the Saints (dont have a f....ing clue who it is), should lead us to believe in the correct manner of owning-running a pro-football team.

Well said, and agreed. Sorry to use just a portion of your response, but this is the sentiment I was trying to capture. Just tired of the blowhard mentality at all levels (including ownership). No need to flap about it, although as you said the owner has the most "right" to do so, just win and save the bravado for after we win the superbowl.

Spending $millions gives him the right to say whatever he wants.
So far Ross has been a great owner unafraid to spend his money.
We spent the second most money in the league as a team last year.
He clearly wants the team to succeed.
Now write one more check for Atogwe and we might be on our way to the superbowl.

Actually saying Henne was the best quarterback in Michigan history is not out of line at all. Many people do consider him to have been the best. Henne holds Michigan records for total yards, completions and touchdowns. It isn't even close when comparing Tom Brady the Wolverine and Chad Henne the Wolverine, it is a landslide for Henne.

Also, he didn't say Henne was better or even the next Marino. He said, he HOPES Henne is, as most of us do. He didn't declare Henne a great QB, just that he hopes he is and backs it up by stating a fact that Henne was Michigan's best QB.

Ross owns the team, so he can say whatever he wants in public about the team. Ross doesn't speak to the media very often so him saying once during the offseason that he expects big things from this team and its players is not bad at all. Just shows he has confidence. What I have a problem with and find annoying is when a head coach goes on media shows and radio shows over and over boasting that they are the greatest team in the league. I think we all know who I am talking about.

Ross said his expectations, he didn't come out and say "we are the best team and you can book it that we will be in the Super Bowl." Is there really a Owner out there who doesn't want to win the Super Bowl? When Ross took over, people complained that they didn't think he really cared about winning and just wanted to bring in celebrities and bring attention. Now people complain because he cares about winning? Is this a Twilight Zone episode?
