First off, things are not as bad as they may seem. Lets not forget that the Bucs are a very good team. 5-1 record with one of the best D's in the NFL. And we were on the road.

I believe one of our biggest concerns is the wide receiver position. Even with all that talent, Chambers, Booker, Boston, and even McMike have trouble getting open. They also have trouble adjusting to the ball. Granted Chambers did make a beautiful one handed grab. The passes aren't always going to be perfect, in that case they need to adjust. Our receivers do not do that very well. I also don't understand why opposing receivers get wide open while ours hardly ever do. Our receivers just flat out don't make plays. With all that cap space next year, we need to include a bonafide #1 receiver, a playmaker. I love Chambers, but he is not consistent enough (He should of made that catch early in the game on the deep ball). Booker is nothing more than a #2, and Boston, who used to be one of my favorites, is done.

I do believe Frerotte is better than Fiedler and Feeley ever were. However he did overthrow a couple of open receivers today. With a good running game, Frerotte will be ok.

Also, the damn penalties. How can we have an effective running game with all the false starts and holding penalties. I can't take it anymore. It's driving me crazy!!!:fire:

I am a homer, I admit it, but I honestly believe we have a good team. Remember last year we sucked, badly. Things are going to come together. We are losing because of mental mistakes, penalties, miscues and inexperience, not due to lack of talent. I believe that as the season goes on, the penalties will go down, the mental mistakes will be less, and Frerotte and the receivers will get on the same page, and hopefully the receivers. The oline has improved drastically and will continue to do so. Our running game WILL be effective. Our defense will be solid.

I still think we'll contend for a playoff spot, but only if we fix what's broken. We have the talent and the coaching to do so. Go Fins!

Are you kidding me? watch the play again, It hurt me not to see that play not work as much as the next guy, but that is really stretching it. the ball landed on what would be his finger nail the exact very tip, you can't grasp a football by your finger nail. especially while diving in the air, the ball can land on the fingers and be caught, but it has to land slightly inward more towards the middle of the finger tip so the ball can be grasped and be quickly pulled in, becuase if not it won't be caught because of the fall from gravity. ihe ball was just over thrown, not alot, but too far ahead, where it a would've have almost been miraculous to catch.

It shouldve been caught

he should of kept running instead of diving. He could of and should of caught that ball. An elite, playmaking WR would catch that pass

He dove because he wasn't going to catch up to it, so he made a desparation dive.

I'm sorry bro, but I watched that play on tivo like ten times. If he would of kept running, he would of caught it.

Well I watched it too, and I'm pretty sure about it....but I would like to see it again for further evaluation, does anyone have clips of the game or that of that play?

Wow... Chambers he's not been solid so far, but that ball was totally out of reach, we can find all the excuses in the world triying to protect Gus, but lets get real, was not Chambers fault!

Well, all that matters is that he did not catch the ball and we lost. We can sit here all night and debate if it was catchable or not. Either way, we do not have a consistent playmaker within our wide receiver core.

Lol, he did not catch the ball because the ball was not catchable, you are asking for the impossible!

I just watched replays of it over and over from someone who posted it on another thread, the ball has a 1% chance of being caught. Some people are unrealistic. Maybe you just need glasses, the ball hit the very tip of his finger and he couldn't run under it, becuase gus didn't put any arc on the ball it was like a missile dart out a little too far, so it wasn't catchable.

If he dove and just got his finger tips on it, he should have been able to keep running to catch the ball. When you dive you slow down. There is no way he is faster diving than he is while running at full speed. It wasn't an easy play, but the ball should have been caught.

The pass was right on Chamber's finger tips, so it was barely overthrown. But nevertheless, it was another pass overthrown by Gus. He was overthrowing everyone today. Last week, he was missing receivers too.

if the ball had arc, but it was basically a deep, dart. You need a little arc on deep passes so WR can get under the pass, after looking at it, the ball was zipped outward. go to the thread named "Chambers takes a stab" and look at the play. If you have good judgement and good eyes, you'll know.

When you are playing a top 10 defense you don't have many opportunities to make big plays. However, when the opportunity presents itself your QB has to be ready to take advantage of it. That is what separates a Brady or Manning from a middle of the road guy like Gus.
Both teams had trouble establishing a consistent running game through the 1st 3 quarters (TB had one 33 yd run on the first drive and not much else). The team that made the critical plays would win.
Linehan called a few plays in the first half which allowed a receiver to get wide open on what could have been 2 very big plays (Chambers and Diamond) that resulted in TD's. Gus overthrew both times. The throw to Diamond was especially baffling as Gus was not under extreme pressure and Diamond was wiiiiide open. The Fins could have been up 14-10 at half and the complexion of the game would have changed. Simms would have been the QB having to face a defense with its ears pinned back.
I was at the game and saw the whole field. Gus was locking on to receivers early on and was ignoring his 2nd and 3rd options.
This game more than any other this season has convinced me that the number one need on this team is an above average QB.
