I'd like to hear some suggestions on how we should address our hole at QB this offseason. Does anybody have a list of possible free agents? Who are the top college prospects (And sleepers)? Is there anybody worth trading for?

And here are some obvious suggestions that I'd like to hear comments on:

Trade for:

Philip Rivers (It looks like the Chargers have decided to go with Brees and Feeley next year)
David Carr (Have the Texans given up on him?)
Matt Schaub (He's played well this season, and the Falcons will probably look to cash in on his success)
David Garrard (Impressive backup who's stuck behind a quality starter)

Try to draft a top QB prospect (I've heard that these two are right at the top of the list...Who else is up there?):

Matt Leinart (USC)
Brady Quinn (Notre Dame)

Don't forget a very likely and very scary scenario: Sticking with Gus and 3rd stringers or draft a really low round QB who won't do much immediately unless it's a Kyle Orton situation. With the lack of viable options, it may be possible.

If the Texans do stick with Carr and get the top overall pick, they need O-Line help. Shipping our first (which they can use to get a OLineman) and some fillers for their first could get us an opportunity to draft a top QB who we can groom a la Carson Palmer.

That depends on if we can get the Chargers to a fair deal that doesn't involve forking over loads of picks like Wanny did with RW or giving up a proven franchise player like JT, ZT, Madison. There might be ample competition from the Jets, etc...

I heard Minnesota, Tampa, and Baltimore also might be interested in PR.

Why do so many people want Rivers? He doesn't fit this offense at all. Look at the guys Linehan has shown a CLEAR preference for. They are big guys with HUGE cannons on their shoulders. Rivers floats passes like Chad Pennington. God bless Rivers, I loved him coming out of the draft and I still do love him, but I doubt he's right for this offense if Linehan really needs a strong-armed guy like he's shown a preference for in the past.

Cleo Lemon fits this offense much better than Rivers.

Drew Brees, with his much-improved arm strength, and his mobility fits this offense better than Rivers does, IMO. David Carr fits the profile too, but I just keep thinking to myself that Carr is really a sorry quarterback and he's just proving it.

Who of the FA's QB's next year would you say fits Linehans system?

i found this list at some falcons board looks pretty accurate

Charlie Batch, Steelers
Jeff Blake, Bears
Drew Brees, Chargers
Todd Collins, Chiefs
Ty Detmer, Falcons
Jay Fiedler, Jets
Jeff Garcia, Lions
Tim Hasselbeck, Giants
Shaun Hill, Vikings
Damon Huard, Chiefs
Jon Kitna, Bengals
Jamie Martin, Rams
Shane Matthews, Bills
Josh McCown, Cardinals
Craig Nall, Packers
Sage Rosenfels, Dolphins
Kordell Stewart, Ravens
Vinny Testaverde, Jets
Marques Tuiasosopo, Raiders
Kurt Warner, Cardinals
Chris Weinke, Panthers

I say if we can't get Rivers or Linehart then we should go after Kitna and let him run the team for a couple of seasons till Brady Quinn is ready to leave school. Then do whatever it takes to get him as the franchise QB.

Kitna is one of the very few FAs I'd want next year.

Oh I am definatley on that bandwagon....sign me up. Phillip Rivers is my consensus all american choice for the next heir in Miami. Sign me up..Sign me up!!!!

Although I am quickly becoming a Brady Quin fan myself. We wont get him though...when he somes out next year..I think he stays in South Bend to get the Irish a National Championship next year. If you so that in Notre Damn...they automatically anoint you a Saint. I think hes the odds on favorite to go #1 or 2 when he comes out in 2007.
