I was reading PFT this morning and they are saying that Brian Griese is going to be let go. Soprano/Ireland/Tuna should sign him and let him be our veteran QB so that he can come in and compete with John Beck for the starting job while Matt Ryan gets himself ready to take over at some point in the season. Having Beck, Griese and Ryan will give us a great core of quality QBs going into the new era of Fins football. I really liked Griese when he was here in 2003. I dont like Beck at all but he is here and deserves a chance to compete. I also really really believe Matt Ryan is going to be the No.1 pick. He interviewed with Jeff Ireland in the scouting combine and hinted that he would love to play for Miami and that in the end things might just work out that way.

I do not see Griese coming back nor do I want him
I do not see Ryan being drafted.

So I would say I disagree.

And how are we going to draft Ryan if we pass up on our # 1 pick like you wanted too yesterday?

We need to draft Jake Long, and PLAY BECK every single freaking down. He hasn't had an opportunity to show what he can do, good or bad. With Jake Long at left tackle, a no name left guard, Satele at center, Hadnot at right guard and Carey at right tackle, I would hope they could keep defenses off of Beck's back. Also, draft a project QB this year and resign Lemon for the league minimum but only to hold on to him in case Beck gets hurt. There aren't any FA qb's worth a flip. A good buddy of mine is a huge Broncos fan so I've seen a lot of Griese and he isn't worth bringing in.

Surprisingly, Ryan wasn't the only player Ireland interviewed, so if that's your basis for him being the #1 overall pick, assuming you're not just going by what idiots like Kiper say, then you're operating off of flawed logic.

If you want to get down to 'how' and 'why' of picking Ryan then I'd have to say taking a QB prospect with that many question marks, that high, coupled with the holes we have to fill on defense, then you'd be putting the Matt Millen stamp of approval on that pick.

Taking Matt Ryan #1 overall would erase any thought of Ginn going at #9 in 2006 as a bad value.

griese wasn't any good here at all. bad enough to be dropped like a sack of potatoes when his pops was - well you know. ryan is also not #1 talent. we should bring in a vet who i would want not to start but good enough to give beck serious competition - like volek or whoever - and draft a qb like woodson that would have a possibility of starting if he outshines the competition. at least with very decent competition we can see beck's full potential.

I've been saying it for years...focus on the lines. Skill positions get all the glory, but the lines are what make those skill players good.

A solid defensive line will make a average secondary look solid (see NY Giants).

A solid offensive line will make an average passing and running game both look a whole lot better. On the other hand, a poor O-line will make even the best QB's, RB's and WR's look pitiful.

The lines are the foundations of a good team. Like a house, it doesn't matter how many ammenities you poor into the building, if the foundation is weak, the whole thing will suffer.

Build the line through the draft/free agency, and you will rebuild much quicker than you would by focusing on the skill positions.

That would be a horrible move.. Griese is horrible.. He cant even beat out Kyle Orton and you want him to come here? No thank you..

Been there, done that.

Heres a question, why does everyone want other teams rejects. Troy Williamson, Brandon Lloyd, Jon Vilma, eddie Kennison now Brian Griese... Not one of these guys are upgrades over what we currently have... Whos going to be the next crappy FA releasee to pop up on finheaven, Adam Archuleta?

while i totally agree with you, i wouldn't mind having archuleta. oddly ironic.

Yeah I said to forfiet the pick and that would be a great idea. Apparantly the MOFOS at Finheaven thought it was a verybad idea and deleted my thread so I guess it did not happen. My first choice would be to trade for Brady Quinn and draft Jake long. That is also not popular. So my alternate choice is to sign Brian Griese and draft Matty Ice with the top pick. Of all the free agents he is the most qualified and has SFLA roots. The only pick that makes sense at No.1 is a Quarterback.

no wonder they did that because its ridiculous. You are still stuck with Quinn huh after a year. Beck hasnt had his chance to develope his full potential. Thats like saying we drafted Quinn and the same situation happen to him so what you want Ryan this year because Quinn didnt live to the expectation Kiper and his lions mane predicted? its stupid. Beck deserves a chance and this season is going to be his chance to see what he's really made out of . Im not oppose to drafting a qb just not matt ryan and not with the 1 overall pick. Flacco is a good choice and so is Brohme, Woodson wouldnt be bad either. As far as Grease yeah well lets keep Cleo for less money and we should be good lol if thats the case. Billy Volek is who should come down here
