I would like to start off by saying I am not a Culpepper "lover", or all of those other terms we use here to call people who have a difference of opinion on a certain player. I was the first person to throw whatever was in my hand, yell at my TV, and kick my wall at the point in time that I realized that we signed Pep instead of Brees. Frankly, I did not want him in Miami. However, for those of you who are going to blame Culpepper you need to get in touch with reality and realize that we have MANY problematic players on this team that are making this team play like they are thus far. Yes, Culpepper has missed a few passes this year. Yes, Culpepper has had sacks that were "avoidable". But blaming Culpepper and throwing Joey out there will do absolutley nothing except take another step backwards, and to be frank, make us ALOT worse than we are now. To think that Daunte is the only problem on this offense is to say the very least, absurd.

So what are the problems exactly? CONSTANT pressure. CONSTANT pressure. CONSTANT pressure. Have I made it clear enough? Culpepper has been sacked 20 times in 4 games. Not 5, not 6, not 10, not 15. 20 times over 4 games. CONSTANT (Notice the word choice?) pressure from opposing defenses must make this man have nightmares of 300 pound lineman and 250 pund LB's running at him at full speed attempting to kill him, while he attempts to scurry away and somehow make a completion to recievers who drop balls and frankly, arent very good. I dont care if Harrington, Manning, Marino, Aikman or Montana were out there, they would have just as many problems that he has had thus far with the kind of protection he has had..... none.

RG has seemingly been a rotation of players thus far this year. Three different players in four game isint exactly how a line should gel. Anderson, who started the first two games, was about as bad taking a huge tub of butter, slipping it between the RT and C, and telling it to block. Obviously he wasent that bad, but it really isint a stretch to say it. His being out for the season has not made anyone sad, to say the least. Jacox comes in. Its bad. He misses assignments and was seemingly lost. We threw in McIntosh this week, a career T.

Hadnot has been mediocre at Center thus far. We had high hopes with his play at G this year and, knowing he was a C in College, expected great play out of him. He has been a disspointment thus far but is seemingly getting better every week. At LT Shelton constanly looses one on one battles and allows Pep to get blindsided. Carey and James have been the only decent lineman, along with mabey Hadnot, thus far this year.

As for the recievers, they have been horrid. Even when Pep has been able to get a few seconds before getting pummeled they have got no seperation, constantly drop balls, and seemingly are just slacking off (Mabey im wrong with the whole slacking off thing but if I am, they are just not as good as I thought and are being covered on every play). Chambers? Where has he been? 16 receptions, 181 yard in 4 games. Last time I checked he is our #1 reciever correct? Yes. He has not played like it.

Booker.... Booker Booker Booker. Dropped a short slant today that hit him in his chest that would have went for 40+ yards. Of all the recievers I have followed in my day I have never seen a reciever slip and fall, drop passes, and flat out slack off (Again, mabey wrong but if I am he sucks) like Booker. I dont care anymore, its about time we address this. Ever since Booker said he was sad he had to leave Chicago, how he loved the city, the fans, he has sucked. He seemingly dosent care about Miami. To me it seems like he is still dpressed about having to leave Chicago and has never got it going in Miami, nor had he put forth an effort to suceed in Miami.

Hagan. Our so called steal of a 3rd round pick. One Reception for 14 yards. Not helping much, not playing much. That scares me a little, considering our reciever play thus far, that says something to me about his performance in pratice.

Welker has been our one and only exception. He dosent drop passes, he gets great YAC, and he plays every down at 110%. Whenever Pep is looking for Welker it seems to look good, he makes the catch, gets the yards, we move the ball effectively. Why? He hussels, he gets seperation, he gets open, he CATCHES the football when its thrown his way even if its not a 100% perfect pass. Unforunatley, his play has been the exact opposite of Bookers and Chambers thus far.

McMichael has had a decent year. Unfortunatley not in the passing game. He catches every ball that comes his way, again, even if its not perfect, and has done everything that we have asked of him, including blocking.

So, constant pressure, bad recievers, dropped balls, lack of hussle, only split seconds to throw the ball and not being back at 100% yet has all contributed to his "struggles" (Even though he was 23-39 for 250yds with 1TD and 0INTs). I am not here to protect Pep but explain why the offense hasent clicked this year. I am not ready to give up on Pep, not even close. The only way I will feel like most other people calling to bench him is if the recievers stop dropping easy passes, he constantly has time to throw, and recievers get seperation and are actually open when he throws the ball to them. To give up on Pep already is absurd. He constantly put up 30-40pts a game in Minny but had no D to speak of. Here he does. Now his problems lie with protection, which has has none of and recievers, who IMO, are underacheivers.

Oh wait... he dosent have Randy Moss. I find that funny. Very funny. In Miami, thus far, he hasent had a reciver who could even hold Nate Burelson's jock when he played Minnesota. That scares me a bit. Burelson hasent looked very good thus far with Seattle and struggled when Pep was gone. Another point along those lines. Look at Moss since he has gone to Oakland. He has done nothing like what he had done before in Minny. Nothing at all like it. I dont care who is playing QB in Oakland, hes Randy Moss, the man who made Pep look good. Mabey it was Pep who made Moss look good, and Burelson.

All in all, its going to be a long season unless this O-Line gels, recivers pick their game up, and Pep makes every pass nearly perfect. Mabey they should start taking lessons from Welker and Brown, then we would have a superbowl caliber team. As of right now, a horrid line and recievers who have underacheived thus far, not looking good.

Sorry man, that's waaaaaaay to long! Might have a good point, but it's too hard to sit that still when I'm this upset (about the game)

It's a good post. However, there is plenty of blame to hand out, INCLUDING CPEP. The offense just blows.

We can't sustain a drive, we can't convert 3rd downs. Some of it is the OL, some is Cpep, some is Mularky, some is the receivers, some is the RB's.

agreed

I agree with most of what you said. Booker is a liability he doesnt beat one on one coverage enough. Our o-line is horrid. McMichael played decently today, I dont have a problem with him. Our main problem imo right now is Mularkey, Mularkey, Mularkey. The dude continually outsmarts himself. We were playing the Texans and we are did more handoffs from the shotgun then we did from the I formation. I mean WTF! I personally hate getting recycling coaches, but I know we are stuck with him cuz he made too much money too fire.

I totally agree with EVERYONE who is saying its Mularky as well.. I focused more on players but if we want to go into coaching staff as well we can blame Saban, Mularkey, and Houck to a point...

I dont understand all the blame on Booker. Yes, he dropped a sure 20+ yard pass in a clutch situation but Welker got it the very next play. Booker has been consitant enough over the past few years to where I will give him a free pass on that one. I dont understand how ANY blame can go on Culpepper, his play was outstanding behind such a horrid offensive line.

there is no reason for ronnie brown to not see the ball more. brown should be getting more carries. it would help keep the defense off the field and also keep culpepper from being sacked 4500 times a game

Agreed. Can you imagine if Brown had even a meidocre line? Watching some of the moves he puts on 2-3 defenders to get 3-4 yards is mind boggling to me. If he had holes he would be a top 5 runner in the league.... at least.

The only two bright spots on this team is Ronnie and Wes, who plays from the first whistle to the last. this offensive team needs more players like them, When I say Offensive I mean the whole team. We better sign Wes before the end of this season or someone's going to throw a load of money his way.

Good post, I have supported Culpepper in the past . I didn't see the game this week (thanks StreamTV) and was kinda leaning toward the start Joey fan club. However after reading your loooooooooooong post you hit the nail on the head Culpepper is UNDER CONSTANT PRESSURE and in retrospect has done well with what he has to deal with.

At this point I don't want to throw in the towel and start Joey because the Oline absolutely SUCKS and unfortunately right now that is our #1 problem. It wouldn't matter if we had P. Manning back there or Mike Vick neither would be able to escape the pressure and would get pummelled just as bad.

I actually feel sorry for Culpepper because these O-linemen seem to have no pride and seem to be going through the motions. He has no chance to do what he does best, find open receivers DEEP down the field!

Agreed these guys are playing their hearts out. Hopefully it will become contagious and rub of on the other guys especially the O-line:shakeno:

Welker reminds me of Crebet, one of those guys other teams hate but you would love to have on your team!
