Just trying to keep people positive here. There are a ton of bright spots on the team and a dark spot in the most important position on the field, the QB.

Another area that seems bad to me is our punter, Donnie Jones. He has sucked every single game this year... multiple times kicking 35-40 yard punts off the sides of his feet. Very inconsistent.

Gus has got to go. I don't need to elaborate on this one because I'm sure you guys all saw it for yourselves for the last 5 weeks. He misses 5-10 yard passes to wide open guys... HOW CAN YOU CALL YOURSELF AN NFL QUARTERBACK???

Our defense is solid, sure they got pushed around last night, but no defense can be expected to play well when they're on the field for 42 minutes. Not to mention the first half stat was even WORSE. I think we had maybe 5 first downs in the first half? Every first down = rest for your defense. They were all huffing and puffing by late second quarter. Because of this fact, monsters like Willie Roaf were pushing around a bunch of very tired guys.

Also, WE NEED TO RUN THE BALL MORE. Sounds pretty simple and stupid but it's true. Play calling has been pretty shady... We didn't convert a 2'nd and 1 because we threw 2 bombs. I can see how sometimes this could work out, but not when your defense desperately needs a first down to get some more rest. I think right after Priest Holmes made it 21-13 in the 3'rd quarter they abandoned the running game, but man there were still 29 minutes left in the game at that point. plenty of time to drive down the field slow instead of throwing a bomb every other play... We don't have Culpepper and Moss!!

Some more positives, we have a great tight-end who we don't use nearly enough. Very nice #1 #2 and #3 recievers. Ronnie Brown is going to be great. We also have an excellent kickoff/punt returner in Welker.

Gus has got to be benched... the guy is a nutcase who can't complete 5 yard passes to wide open guys OVER AND OVER. Not just one slip or something, he's been doing this the past 3 games and it's just pathetic. He has great arm strength... but there is no excuse for being an NFL quarterback and not being able to hit a guy in the chest from 5-10 yards.

Gus' stats against a 30th ranked defense make me want to puke. Maybe Wilma will take him out.

Good post!
That Welker guy is going to be a great benefit to you guys down the road. Awesome return last night.

 Hopefully Wilma will indeed take him out, but if not I think we all need to hope for him to have an absolutely awful game next week, pull an AJ Feeley and throw 2 interceptions for touchdowns in the same game, and by the week after that he will be benched.

And I'm not saying Sage is the Saviour or that Cleo will be our Hero, but I'm pretty sure either one of them would have made the Chambers throw and many others in the last 2 games that for some reason Gus misses. Gus must be messed up in the head. I'm sure he has the athletic ability to complete these passes accurately but for some reason he throws them in the dirt or over their heads...

Good post. The only thing I disagree with is our D being solid. It's not solid at all. It's starting to show the age that the defense is, which isn't getting younger. Everyone, not just fans....but even analysts always say what a solid D we have. It's not solid when you give up 20+ points a game and can't get off the field on 3rd downs ALL season. This is the first time I'll admit this in about 6 or 7 years (because I usually defend the defense to no end), but our defense is totally overrated. It just is.

I think its time for Saban to see what some of these other QB's can do in a real game situation. We have seen enough of Gus, he is not the answer. There are 10 games left Its time to let the other two work with the 1st string in a real game. They are not going to win more the 4-5 games this year anyway. So lets evaluate the other 2 QB's. That way for next year they can plan better. If all three suck then at least they know what they have to do, but now you have 2 unknown qualities (Sage & Lemon).

You're absolutely right about Frerotte, but there's a lot more problems, too. Don't ingore all the times when Gus does manage to hit a receiver and they let it bounce off their hands or go right through! Ridiculous!

I question the play calling, too. It seemed like after Gus managed a couple of decent completions, suddenly he (or Saban) thought he was Marino or Montana. He's NOT!!!

Our defense is what has been somewhat keeping us in games, but too often last night they were missing easy tackles. It looked liked Holmes was stopped at the line or maybe a short gain and suddenly he would break loose and gain several more yards. It happened over and over again.

The penalty and turnover problem was MUCH better last night. That's a bright spot.

I try really hard to support my favorite team through thick and thin, but I'll hand it to the Chiefs, they flat outplayed our boys last night. "Execution" is a term thrown around a lot and the Chiefs had it going on last night. At least we can say the Dolphins didn't beat themselves last night the way they beat themselves in their other losses this year (penalties, turnovers). They were defeated by a better team and I respect the Chiefs for it.
