Does anyone know which franchise has the fastest turnaround from picking #1 overall in the draft to becoming Super Bowl champs, and/or how long it took? I'm just wondering.

Im not sure if it has ever happened... But the biggest turn around story i remember was New Orleans from 3-13 in 05 to 10-6 in 06 and the conference championship game.. 1st time saints ever went to a conference championship game

The Dallas Cowboy under Jimmy Johnson had the first pick in the 1989 NFL Draft and then became Super Bowl Champions during the 1992-93 season.

Wasnt Peyton Manning also the #1 pick? I know it took several season, but they eventually won a title with him. Seems it happens with QBs. Hmmm.....were there any franchise QBs available when we picked #1 that are looking like the real deal so far????

The biggest turn around in NFL history was the Indianapolis Colts....they went from 3-13 to 13-3 in one year....

Two words....franchise quarterback....

I believe they got destroyed in the first round by the Jets 41-0....

haha.. was that the year.. I remember when the Jets killed Indy 41-0 in the playoffs.. actually, I just checked.. That was 2002. The year you are talking about was 1999, indy lost to Tennesee 19-16

The Colts sucked for a decade....

They hit on the franchise QB with the #1 overall pick and suddenly experience the most significant turnaround in NFL history and make the playoffs the very next season...

They've been a consistent contender since....

Nothing turns a franchise around like hitting on a franchise QB does...

The year Indy won the superbowl....their defense was ranked DEAD LAST in the league in rush defense....DEAD LAST!

Let's be honest here, Peyton Manning is a little more than just a "franchise QB". The Peyton Manning's of the world only come around once every 10 years, maybe even more.

There's a difference in a franchise QB and a HoF caliber QB.

Exactly....but Peyton Manning wasn't a HOF'er when the Colts were on the clock....

I felt Matt Ryan was one of those QB's that only come around once in a decade or so...

2008-1998= 10 years....

ryan sure looks the part from what i've seen. no turnovers against a pretty good bears d and then he hits that beautiful deep sideline throw to set up the game winner with the rush defender under his chin strap.

even peyton never did that as a rook.

dan henning seems to think chad henne will be a franchise qb.
