Why dont we trade our #9 pick & #71 to New England for their 24th, 28th & 91st pick. This is about a 17 point difference on the nfl draft value chart. Then pick up Joe Staley with the 24th pick and turn around and give New England back their 28th pick for Assante Samuel. That way we take care of our 2 biggest needs in the first round. Also I would prefer to pay first round money to a CB that is proven in the nfl. So are Draft line-up would be

24th - 1st round
28th - traded for Assante Samuel
40th - 2nd round
60th - 2nd round
91st - 3rd round
108th - 4th round
181st - 6th round
199th - 6th round
219th - 7th round
225th - 7th round
238th - 7th round
We still would have 10 picks in the draft. Absorb this information and then tear it appart. Just some creative thinking. Also does anyone have a current status of how much salary cap space we have left?

why does everyone keep suggesting trades to our divison rivals? i dont get this at all .... do u guys want us to lose or something or let our division opponents get better.

You're a madman, but I love it. Keep it going, we still have a week to go!

No way man. WHY would we want to make New England THAT much better (haven't they already cleaned house enough in FA?) all for us to get Joe Staley? Plus, for the millionth time, OL doesn't solve out biggest prob of the past 8 years, which is QB.

Not to mention if we DID do that deal, why wouldn't we just do #9 and #71 for #24, Samuel, and #91 in the first place, why would we take both of their firsts and then trade the first back? Too much back and forth to be realistic. And again, while it works on paper, it is a horrible theory because it makes NE that much better.

Great responses. I think we make New England a little weaker by taking their top probowl corner and only giving them a potential starter or a potential bust.

Interesting thought, but:

a) I don't think Staley makes it to 24; and
b) I don't know if NE would be all that excited to move up if Laron Landry's not there, which it appears he won't be.

Excellent, but Samuel will cost us a 1st and a third. So we would probably have to give them their #60 back as well and seek other compensation to even up the trade.

This means trading DC and probably Goodman or Daniels and probably Booker as well to clear cap space. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Elite CB who can make the picks is the only ingredient keeping the Dolphins from having the league's #1 defense. Which of course translate's to PLAYOFFS.

Because New England drafts so well they don't need to trade up .. They are geniuses at the draft table.. There is absolutely no need for them to do that ..

I would love to get 2 first rounders. I don't think it benefits them more than us. If you look at teams who have been able to make big leaps from one year to the next one common factor has been the ability to acquire 2 first round picks.

It seems like New England is always able to reload with two first round picks ('03 Wilfork and Watson - 2 this year). 'Course in '02 the Raiders had 2 firsts and so did the Cardinals; didn't help either team really. San Diego ('05) had Luis Castillo and Shawne Merriman...not to mention LT and Rivers. All I am saying is that first rounders have the highest probablilty of success at the next level. If you draft two first rounders you cut the risk in half of having your first rounder being a bust. New England won't even trade us their two first rounders (for our first) unless it is for Landry, in which case we should just draft Landry anyways.

Uhhh if we are going to give them it back for Samuel why wouldn't they just not give it to us in the first place and give us Samuel instead.

no way that happens. but as for you mock draft for miami in you signature you should take out 3 round stanton and put in john beck. stanton will be gone, thank god cuz i dont like him, and beck is a much better QB/.

Why would NE want to trade up to #9? Makes no sense to me. I'm all for trading down and getting extra picks. Especially if the FO is already looking at a QB in the 2nd or 3rd instead of Quinn.
