Outside Looking In

It helps when the team you are playing "clearly" scripted plays while your team literally freeballed it the entire night. The one's on the field lacked our THREE BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYERS, while Atlanta brought out their arsenal. Matt Ryan was held in check until A. We started to subsitute B. Fasano tips a perfectly catchable ball up in the air giving the Atlanta offense a short field.

You can spin it anyway you want, but you are putting way to much into a scrimmage that one team put more prepartion into, in front of their home crowd, while the other team did not. That is the real bottom line. If you wanna disregard the season this Dolphins defense had last year for 1 preseason game . . . go ahead, but don't think you are spitting actual knowledge to anybody.

Look... where is the sense of urgency... where is the sense that you need to bring it... because you haven't proven it.... I think the D will be great... until they get put in short fields and 3 and outs all game... sound familiar.... the D will hold teams under 17 points this season... and that's huge in todays NFL... the problem is we won't score more than 13.... and it won't be because of Reggie and Marshall.... so if TS waving his arms like a madman after a FG excites you.... your going to love what you see....

I don't know why people think that Nolan went deep into his playbook for this game. Defense means nothing in preseason. "I thought D was our strong suit" it is. You never go deep into your playbook in preseason and most of the starters don't go out and give a full effort and put their bodies on the line for a game that doesn't matter.

Obviously no one recalls the defense last pre season was very vanilla and got ran on, passed through and scored on. The defense Is the least of their worries.

I like the D... probably the only thing that's valid.... besides the kicking game

But if they get a consistant dose of short fields to defend and 3 and outs... even the D will disappoint eventually....

I find it ironic that we scored 4 TD's and didn't kick any field goals last night, yet we reference last year and the field goals . . . but the defense was great last year, yet we reference their performance last night. Please, keep looking for any nook and cranny to fit your agenda. I'm not saying you have to love Henne, the defense, Sparano, Ireland, Daboll, whoever . . . but trying to sell this gloom or doom theory and mock the same rhetoric we keep continung to hear just makes no sense to me.

Sense of urgency? For what? A preseason game where the coach CLEARLY said he was treating like a scrimmage? The funny thing is, the same people complaining about the Fins last night are the SAME ONES who would say "when they do it in the regular season I'll believe" . . . please, please, please . . . you can't praise the preseason as something big and then use it as an excuse to downplay the results when it doesn't play out to fit your agenda.

All this time spent trying to win over your argument . . . you probably missed how spread out the offense was, how much speed we have added, the play of Odrick and Jimmy Wilson . . . take a break from your agenda and look at some positives. Hell we won the game.

I'm not sure what this thread is implying

but, missing our best 3 offensive players and a vanilla gameplan. The 2nd string D came in pretty F'ing fast. I know Culver and Nate Ness we burned on the 2nd TD.

No agenda.... I didn't write the piece... I like the play where Odrick tossed the guy like he was the second coming of Reggie White... I like the way Wilson played with a sense of urgency... never suggested "everything" was bad....

But.... this HC with the exception of Nolan has proven nothing.... the owner tried to replace the guy... he's in a lame duck position.... and there's no room for going through the motions and continually making excuses... or better yet... trying to manage the expectations because it's only a "practice" and there's no game plan... blah blah blah....

Maybe Drabol is going to go from worst to first this season.... but with Henne as the triggerman... it's "reasonable" to expect the same things out of him that we've been getting... including last night.... but wait.... they weren't on the "same page".... yeah... it's only practice

Now your just rambling.

Amigo that knife cuts both ways... I have seen the exact same mentality applied by the homers... They have two responses drafted before the game even begins all ready to paste into the comments depending on the outcome... 'Relax it's only preaseason' or 'See?? Told you Henne was amazing!!'... Don't call out an agenda simply because you don't agree with it... Some on here just see things differently and leave it at that.

As far as 'sense of urgency' I would say with the amount of uncertainty heading into this season there SHOULD BE A GREAT SENSE OF URGENCY!!! This fanbase is anything but happy... With an abysmal home record... Owner trying and failing to dismiss the coach... Henne getting pummeled in the trades, by his own FO through their actions and on the field... As well as getting booed by his own fans... A little intensity would go a long way to appeasing the faithful... I am sick and tired of apologies and excuses... If Bess ran the wrong route, I want to see Henne in his face the whole way back to the sideline... I don't care if it is in preseason, practice or at a Chad Pennington BBQ!!

Henne NEEDS to grab this team by the scruff of the neck and shake the sh*t outta them.

You aren't going to show a bunch of plays from an offense that is still be learned in the first preseason game. The Fins organization shouldn't be content with their home record in 2010, or the entire offense in 2010 . . . but there is alot going on to fix that and unfortunately it does take time. To chalk up last night to "The same Ol' Dolphins" and "Just watch last year to see how they played" is shortsighted and honestly not the case. Scripting plays in a meaningless preseason game makes no sense. If the Dolphins are smart, they drown out the media and the clueless fans that tend to follow after them and focus on getting better. If they are worried about what anybody outside of what their coaching staff is trying to do, they have already failed.

And I would never personally say it's just preseason . . . I was the first one to criticize the pass on the 2nd INT by Henne but like the way he composed himself on the next drive and led the troops to a TD. When the so called "Henne Homers" say stuff like that, it usually proceeds a comment by the "Henne haters" . . . and vica versa . . . personally, don't get caught up into it.

Actually I was doing the opposite... I was ignoring the performance and criticizing the 'same ol' Dolphins ATTITUDE'... I just don't see the accountability... I see the coaches and players apologizing for eachother... Taking bullets... That might be 'noble' ... But really where is the accountability?

Personally I think it begins with Tony's laissez faire attitude towards this... 'We will not prepare'... Let's forget the obvious attempt to lower expectations even before the game has been played...or essentially giving the vets a night off by declaring 'this is for the rooks only'...

But how in the world are you going to get a fair assessment of your guys when you don't do the minimum in preparation..? How does concentrating on what we're doing and watching running plays get blown up in your backfield help to get a fair assessment of Daniel Thomas? This is a chance to see your guys AGAINST real competition, why in the world squander that opportunity by treating it like another practice..? Only Sparano knows...

And for the record... I was not lambasting Henne for the 'same ol' Henne' mistakes on the INT... I was lambasting him for the same ol' attitude... This guy has been a punching bag for fans and media alike... And he just demonstrates the same ol' indifference... Bess ran the wrong route??? Then let him KNOW!!! and don't do it gently.

The mistakes don't tell the whole story, just like the score.

An owner who flew all over the place to replace the HC..... a FO who went all over the place to replace the QB.... the continued up and down play of the QB... in practice... in "practice" games... in games that COUNT.... the installation of a new offense buy an OC who's previous offense was about last in the NFL.... a HC with a OL guru title but nothing but confusion and over $100 MILLION in guaranteed money out the window for players who couldn't/can't play.... and a team that can't win at home.

I'm not being dark here... but I didn't make this up either.

There's 3 weeks to fix this thing.... some on here think it's nothing more than..... throwing a switch, installing the script, letting out the true offense with the magic gameplan.... really?

And one last thing about the HC... who's a likeable enough guy.... when asked about the 2.2 YPC and the OL.... and he comes back with.... "they've only practiced 7 days".... c'mon man... he's had years to get this fixed.... just a feeble excuse... and disrespectful as well... enough.
