I’m reading around the country (other boards, papers, etc.) and for the most part others are mocking the Wildcat as a gimmick or a high school play “real NFL defenses” will “stuff like a Christmas tree.”

In other words, no respect. In fact, it seems a lot of people think we beat the Pats with pure gimmickry, and the Bolts loss was because they made too many mistakes as opposed to our execution or play. I believe what Ronnie says, the Wildcat is not a gimmick, it’s a play about execution --- and getting 4 yards or more with it is a positive play.

But hey, this is good news for this team because we need a chip on our shoulder. And the perception that we’re winning with tricks, or bad play from the opposition, is good fuel for the fire.

Personally, I hope the perception remains and Ronnie and Ricky with their “tricky” play continue to pile up yards and TD’s in the name of “gimmickry” masking superior execution!

Haha, the last laugh will be ours…

Even the Run and Shoot worked for a while, but, the fact is the Wildcat is a formation, not a system. It's not like it's the basis of our offense. It worked great agaisn the Pats...Not quite as well against the Bolts, but, it still worked. Just like any other formation and play it can work in limited doses.

BTW....How does one stuff a Christmas tree?

Those people no nothing about football and they need to understand that the Wildcat is a very complex play and you need certain type of players for it to work against the best teams in the NFL.

Penny went 22/29 for 228 and a TD No interceptions and was sacked only once.

Ronnie had 24 carries for 125 and a TD.

We held the ball 13 minutes longer than SD.

Wildfin moved the chains and kept the chargers from stuffing the run / pressuring the QB on non-wildfin downs.

Sounds like it did what it was supposed to do to me.

Our D played lights out.

Let them believe what they want, I'm just happy we are playing well :)

Anyone else noticed on a couple of occasions how ChadP would break out of the huddle and act like he was splitting wide, then turning back around and returning to normal formation? Just another small wrinkle that no one is talking about.

that should be bulletin board material for the locker room..I bet this would get the players fired up-especially Joey Porter and Channing Crowder :D
If the other teams do not take us seriously-okay they will see what they will get from it..

Fact is that we execute well and play concentrated and hard.. If the others don't believe it-well see you on Sunday!:woot:

I don't know, but I'm guessing the Christmas tree wound up "stuffing" the Chargers.

thats complete BS, a formation is a formation. Any given defense would've given up yards if they haven't seen the wildcat formation. True defenses learn to adapt and deal with the change. if this wasn't the case then everyone should just run I-formation to run the ball and shotgun to throw the ball... people can be dumb...

The run and shoot didn't last because it got the QB beat up, this can last as long as Ronnie stays healthy.

My favorite part from the Chargers game?

ONE penalty for 5 yards. ONE

Let that sink in for a minute.

no you know nothing about football by that statement. The wildcat isnt special,. The wildcaT IS NOTHING NEW. A direc snap stretch type run is NOTHING NEW. Every player is an athlete in the nfl and ronnie brown isnt super special.

ill give yousome lessons on defensive assignments and common sense stuff of football for a cheap price

with all due respect but he never said that it is something brand new.. I agree that every player in the NFL is an athlete but you can't run the wildcat with every player at QB just because hes an athlete.. this formation just uses Ronnies special (athletic) abilities to nearly perfection.. you cant run this formation with camarillo, wilford or cramer at QB.. there are just a few players on our roster that could receive the direct snap and run the wildcat (Ted Ginn for example..he did something similar at Ohio State)..
So just like not every receiver is capable for the reverse not every receiver is capable for the wildcat..

there is no need to take personal shots at a fellow dolfan..

Every runningback in the nfl can run that formation. Your getting ahead of ur self and trying to say ROnnie Brown is some brand new type of player that no one has ever seen before.

I've watched thewildcat for YEARS I've seen it be destroyed, i've seen it work.

ANY PLAYER CAN TAKE A DIRECT SNAP AND STRECH THE PLAY (like indy does - waiting for the line to get a lil push) then find a gap and zip through. The trick stuff thats run out of it, eh depends on who can throw the ball or chooses not to throw it, such as what ricky did when no one was open. ThaTS easy to say "if hes open, throw it, if hes not dont."

I get sick of the stuff around here but I wont go away because I like making sure people get things straight.
