I live in Steeler country and last week my son (3) came home from preschool and said he didn't like the Dolphins anymore. He said he liked the Steelers cause his teacher told him the Dolphins stink and the Steelers were Superbowl champions. In class they all made black and gold Steeler's #1 trophies and I guess during the playoffs they made all kinds of Steelers stuff.

I picked him up from school on Friday (which i had off), even though he usually rides the bus. I went to the teacher, a female, and told her my son will root for who he wants and if she tells him the dolphins stink again and tries to force these kids to like the Steelers I will take it to the school board. She told me to go ahead, cause the members of the board are all Steeler fans and they won't do a thing about it.

Now I'm 37, never got in trouble in school as a child but I almost socked this teacher in the mouth because of her attitude and some of the other things she said about my beloved fins. Do I have a right to be angry? or should I just let it go? It'll all probably wear off sooner or later anyway and my son can like whoever he wants but I'm still very mad.

You have every right to be mad. Do not let the school corrupt your child; do something about it

Steelers are a good team and a Great Organization rich with tried and true fans....If your wife is a Steelers fan then maybe O.K but if not then No way.

I ran into a similiar thing with my daughter and her mother wanting her to be a Raiders fan....It just wasnt happening!

That would really tick me off. When the day comes that i have a child he will likely be hte biggest Dolphins fan ever. IF some teacher tried to force otherwise on the kid id be angry. You shoulda knocked her out:sidelol:

My wife is from England the only football team she likes is Manchester United.

Ask the teacher if she paid the refs yet, walk in with a custom shirt that says 'Seattle Seahawks the real superbowl champions' make sure it has a picture of a ref holding up the superbowl trophy

Then send your kid to hollywood florida, I will straighten him out

Dude you have every right to be upset. Most likely this teacher is a bandwagon fan anyway. Was she making Steelers toys last year? I guess this is your sons first year, so you wouldn't know.

I live in Jet territory and almost had the same situation happen. I made it perfectly clear that we our Dolphin Fans, are Family is originally from South Florida and we will always be Dolphin Fans. I also explained being a Fan isnt about winning and losing. That might make the difference between being a happy or unhappy fan, but should'nt dictate the reason to support a team.

IM 39 years old now and have been waiting a long time to see us win a Superbowl. The last time I even watched us in one was 22 years ago when we lost to the Niners. And haven't seen us WIN ONE since I was 6 years old.

You aren't over-reacting at all. That bangwagon Steeler fan, who was most likely a Pats fan the year before, or didn't mention she rooted Steelers after they were once again Humiliated at home in a Championship game, has no right or values teaching your son who he should root for. Keep the course. And remember- GO MIAMI!

Another good thing you can do? Bring your son to a Dolphin Party or Game. That is a HUGE thing that will help. When a 3 or 4 year old is in the parking lot with 70K Dolphin Fans, its almost overwhelming and it will make him happy to be part of the Family. Good Luck.

Your son is 3 and in preschool. Fighting with a teacher over what NFL team he should root for is crazy on all levels.

Be the bigger man and don't make things more difficult on your son. The teacher is wrong, but don't make things difficult on your child making a big deal over this.

Mike I don't agree at all. First off Id like to ask if you have Children? If you do IM sure you understand at this age they are like a sponge and this situation is more than just what Football team he roots for. What if the teacher were a Democrat and was influencing the Child to change from living in a home with Republicans?

This teacher has ABSOLUTELY no right forcing Kids to like anything, just because she does. And some families, such as Mine take Football serious and always will. Rooting the Dolphins in my Family is a TRADITION and BIRTH RIGHT. It may sound ridiculous to you, but this is the case. I wouldn't want my son to be influenced to change his mind on anything that he was taught from me, because of a teacher.

This is where this Boy can be taught to be a leader rather than a follower. Someone who stands out, instead of just another face in the crowd, making paper Steeler trophies from Construction Paper.

As you said, its not that big of an issue. It's a perfect situation for this kid to step up and support something his family loves. I don't agree with you on this at all.

No seriously, this is the best advise of all. Lets jam her email with phins propaganda and let her know exactly how it feels....

EDIT: Oh yeah, and if that doesnt eleviate some of the uneccesary pressure then by all means

shoulda kicked her in the babymaker
