Owners Pondering Lockout for 2008 Season

"The National Football League has made so little movement toward a new collective bargaining agreement that during a two-day meeting this week in Kansas City, Mo., the owners discussed the possibility of playing the 2007 season without a salary cap and having a lockout in 2008. They also talked about creating a contingency fund in the event of a lockout."

sounds good to me. Last time we had scabs playing we actually had a good team. whatever it takes to get to the playoffs. ha ha ha

It will not happen. Strikes have ruined every sport that they have happened to. Football is the #1 professional sport in america right now, and they won't jepordize that.

Totally agree...the NFL does'nt have the sack to do it and the players union is too weak to not eventually take whatever last second offer hits the table.

IMO, there is no way there will ever be another year without a full season of games. However, if they do play a season without the salary cap I think we are the one team in the league that would benefit the most. We have South Beach, you just got paid MEGA-millions of $$$, there is no state income tax, best weather in the world during football season, our owner has VERY deep pockets. We would probably go undefeated (J/K but we would definitely have a better chance).

No problem...go right ahead with the lockout, Mister Owners. :shotgun:

wow thats just about the time our rebuilding program should be finished and if things work out right about the time we would be championship caliber

LOL guys.....dont sweat it.....they have YEARS to get the deal done....id be worried if there was a deadline that ended tonight, but not three years from now

I really have a hard time believeing that the NFL would have a lockout. Its posible but IMO its a very small possibility.

I agree, too much money to be made.

No they do not have years. You think the owners can meet in 2007 to plan the 2008 season? EVERYTHING is planned well in advance. If a deal isn't reached by mid next year, a lockout would damn near be forced. Advertisers do not have time to wait on the NFL to decide whether all systems are go. Too much money is at stake for them and they plan their commercial spots and revenue strategies way in advance.

it's called sarcasim, Seriously, look into it

Im not concerned, this is just typical posturing for a labor battle. The players will threaten strike, the owners will threaten lockout for a good while then they will hammer out a deal. No big deal.
