NFL | Owners tentatively scheduled to meet Tuesday
Mon, 27 Feb 2006 17:49:52 -0800
Updating previous reports, <A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/17">Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports league owners are tentatively scheduled to meet via conference call Tuesday, Feb. 28, to discuss the status of collective bargaining agreement negotiations. Two owners said they had delayed their departures from Indianapolis to accommodate the timing of the conference call. Multiple owners and officials have been rumblings of progress and are optimistic a deal will be in place by the end of the week. If a deal is reached before Friday, March 3, it is likely the start of free agency will be delayed one week to allow teams to recalculate their salary cap status

:woot:

Looks like the deal could be done by tomorow sometime.

This would mean Drew Brees and LeCharles Bentley could be headed to the 954 baby.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

Here's the thing, this could help some teams, who otherwise, might be out of the Drew Brees sweepstakes. Teams like the Jets could (if rumors about the cap jumping up this year), cut Pennington, get themselves under the cap with tons less restrictions and make a play for Brees.

Not saying they will, but more teams will also be out there looking at o-linemen and other positions. It seems like a good thing, but it could backfire on us.

Lets pray for that, but IMO from recent comments, Bentley could be redirected elsewhere and Brees could stay a Charger. :boohoo:

Bentley could go elsewhere, but the latter isn't going to be any more likely with a higher cap IMO. The Chargers already have the money to sign Brees.

i'm sorry... i cant figure out the specifics of the CBA... what does a deal getting done mean and which is better for the dolphins?

It means that this year's salary cap will be raised, probably to something over 100 mil. It also means that next year will not be an uncapped year with all the repercussions that come with it. It will benefit the teams in the worst cap shape the most, like the redskins and the chiefs, though it will still help the fins.
