It looks like this guy is going to end up making the team! I'm going to go ahead and bet that he comes up big in the preseason, and they won't be able to cut him.

What are the chances of him being the #3 back instead of Parmele?

they could all make the team, it just depends on how willing they are to work hard on special teams.

But look for Parmele to be the #3 back, if for no other reason then because this regime drafted him.

in my opinion It would be hard to imagine both these things happening-

Keeping four half backs
releasing both our running back draft pick.

Normally, four backs might be an unlikely thing.

Not with this regime. This regime believes wholeheartedly that when you have good backs, you keep them...because you're going to need them. They value runners heavily. They don't believe in drafting them high in the first round, that's not their thing. But, they do believe in drafting them often until you have a stable of horses that you know can run.

Right now I believe Patrick Cobbs IS the #3 back, and Jalen Parmele has his work cut out for him if he wants to get the job back. Cobbs even working with the first string some. Bottom line is he's extremely well rounded, works his @ss off, and is doing everything they ask him to do really well...catching, blocking, running, blocking kicks and punts, playing gunner on coverage units...forget about it. You keep a guy like that.

Incidentally Ed Miles is also making this team for much the same reason. Tireless worker that has a knack for excelling at a number of different jobs they ask him to do. Camarillo too.

I can agree with that if they keep 4 backs, however at this stange i really cant see them releasing 2 draft picks(if they dont)- but what do i know

I don't see why not. Teams aren't anxious to snatch away players shaken off by the 1-15 Miami Dolphins. Lionel Dotson and Lex Hilliard have really done nothing to stand out in training camp. I mean, we'll see in preseason, but at this point you keep the players that are the most valuable and this isn't a regime that I would accuse of being so beholden to their own super low round draft picks that they'd refuse to cut them in favor of more talented players just to make themselves look like better drafters.

They're going to get plenty of credit for their drafting skills when/if guys like Jake Long, Kendall Langford and Donald Thomas all look impressive as rookie starters, with the possibility of Henne starting right as a rookie and Jalen Parmele potentially looking good as a runner in whatever action he might get there. I don't think they really need to be forcing anything. They are guys that walk, they don't need to talk.

If we keep 4 RBs yea he will stay on the team but other then that i think he is gone

If Patrick Cobbs plays in the pre-season games like he has been doing in practices then he WILL make the team. He's too good on special teams not to keep him around. I see us keeping Ronnie, Ricky, Jalen Parmele and Cobbs along with Boomer Grigsby at FB. Mauia is history imo. He can't catch the ball and is even whiffing on blocks in practice. He also can't play special teams worth a damn.
