Packers | Team reportedly interested in Brees
Sun, 5 Mar 2006 07:02:12 -0800
Jim Trotter, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports the
Green Bay Packers are known to have an interest in San Diego Chargers QB Drew Brees should the Chargers QB hit the market as a free agent. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is very familiar with Packers backup QB Aaron Rodgers and because of that he may look to add another quarterback, should QB Brett Favre retire.

Already posted in General NFL forum bro! I give you credit for trying though!

not good news if the CBA doesn't work out. They are way under cap and will be able to offer big $$$. The one good thing is that I dont think Brees is willing to sit the bench after being a starter for this long. Unless Farve retires.

Thanks for the rumor--I can't see it happening though. Drew will sign a one year deal with a team he feels will need his services beyond this year. He will use this year to show case his arm and when the cap free season starts, he will sign his long term deal. Hopefully with the Dolphins!

This is getting Ri-goddamn-diculous. Next thing you know the Colts are gonna be interested in Brees.

That's putting a lot of money at QB with Rodgers and Brees. I'm not sure that that will happen.

Looks like the Packers aren't trusting Rodgers nor Favre...what chemistry, eh?

PFT:

BREES BLOWING INTO MINNY?

Sid Hartman of The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports (sort of) that the Vikings are likely to make a run at Chargers quarterback Drew Brees, who'll hit the market at the start of free agency.

Brees, per Hartman, has a great relationship with new Vikings personnel boss Fran Foley. Foley previously was the director of pro personnel in San Diego.

The challenge for the Vikings, however, would be to work out a trade for current starter Daunte Culpepper before pursuing Brees. If other teams chase Brees when free agency opens at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, the Vikes will have to decide whether to jump into the fray without a deal in place for Daunte, even though it would be an implicit admission to the rest of the league that Minny isn't serious about keeping Culpepper -- meaning that he'd be cut before his $6 million roster bonus comes due in the middle of the month.

But anyone interested in Brees should be damn sure that he's on track to be recovered in time to play this season. Recent reports indicated that his shoulder injury was more than a torn labrum, and that he also had a partially torn rotator cuff.
Now the Vikings might be interested. I still think we would get Brees over Green Bay and Minnesota. Worst case scenerio is we might end up with Culpepper.

either way its going to be an interesting course of events

doesnt make sense at all

yea just a gut feeling he deff. isnt going to greenbay its just another rumor...ofcourse some teams are going to look at him hes the best FA qb so any team with a qb issue is going to draw some type of interest but i trust that saban will use his skills to get brees to come down here to miami and lead us to a SB

Every team is interested. Rumors are hilarious. And besides, all teams put out false information this time of year. Why pay attention to it?

So they are trashing their 1st round pick after 1 year? I dont buy it.

Well...tey are still aren't sure about Farve situation..are they?
