PACKERS HAVE LEGITIMATE INTEREST IN LAVAR
Although we were quick to presume on Monday that the Packers' visit with linebacker LaVar Arrington was a knee-jerk reaction to the recent comments of He Who Shall No Longer Be Named regarding the team's failure to sign any impact free agents, we're now hearing that the Packers indeed have a legitimate interest in Arrington.
The Packers, we hear, had planned throughout the past month to eventually enter the bidding for Arrington, because the front office correctly surmised that his demands would not be met by another team.
With that said, the Packers aren't inclined to overpay Arrington.
So the practical result of the statements from He Who No Longer Will Be Named could be that it will now be harder for the Packers to sign Arrington, since Arrington's agents likely will try to jack up the price tag because of the perception that signing a guy like Arrington might persuade He Who Will No Longer Be Named to return.
This presumes, of course, that the Packers genuinely want He Who to return. We frankly don't think that they do-PFT

ill tell ya two things.

1) They need him alot worse than we do.
2) They have ALOT more money than we do.

but we have things going for us too.
1-He wants to play in our system
2- He loves miami as a city

Also, think about it from the packers perspective. Do I want to over pay this guy to get " he who will not be named" to come back for 1 more season? because after this next season do I want one guy killing the payroll during a rebuilding season when I will soon use payroll to get future free agents that dont ask for peterson money.

I dont think they will get him because it will be completely for the short term.

This is true..but its all up to brett favres decision because he has alot of money in there cap.... so we'll just have to see, if they dont get him, we'll see him in a dolphins cap

This could throw off the entire draft predictions because many think they will snag Hawk @ 5...

Well, if he goes there, it won't surprise me. They have more cap than we do so he will probably get his money.

I dont know if this is true, LA was recently quoted as saying that he wants to play in whatever system pays him the most and he doesnt care where that is.

I think the Packers want Favre back, and they are going to sign LA and possibly other "marque name" players such as Law or Woodson to persuade him to come back. They want a glorious exit as much as Favre probably does, it means $$$$.

They're not going to sign the guy just to convince Brett to come back. If they try to sign him, it's because they're legitmately interested in him and think he can be a cornerstone for that team for many years if he plays up to expectations. And since no one has apparently offered Arrington anything near Peterson money, it probably won't break their bank to give him a nice contract without quite having to go to that extreme. Besides, free agent prices are only going to go up in the coming years.

Also, if he truly loved the city and the system he would have signed on the dotted line by now. It's quite obvious the money is a bit more important to him.

hey if they want to over pay for LA and CW, go right ahead. they HAVE to make a move per King Favre and they have the cash.....enjoy

If Lavar signs with Green Bay, Then he is just flat out stupid. Therefore I don't what him on my team.
