Palm Beach Post: Projecting the Miami Dolphins’ 53-man roster

So everyone seems to be in agreement (at least, so far) that Gates is gone?

No. You don't give up on Gates imo, he needs time to put it all together, and his speed speaks for itself. As to Hogan. you have to love is size, strength and speed, but what really catches my eye is how he explodes out of breaks. Imo that's what earns him the nickname 7/11, and if I have to give a roster spot to either Roberto Wallace or Chris Hogan, it's going to be Hogan. Hogan will not survive the practice squad poaching imo. He'll be on the 53.

For those who actaully botherd to watch CJ in training camp, he was explosive. Hogan is explosive, too, and we need that even more now that CJ is gone.

Honestly when it comes down to it, I think WR is the biggest mystery on this team.

IMO, only WR with a guaranteed spot is Bess. Apart from Bess, I won't be surprised to see any other name on the roster.

I'm guessing it will be Bess, Hartline and Naanee. Other 3 spots are wide open.

im interested in Hogan like everybody else and he was open last game when Delvin didnt even see him. he probably won't make the team however

Don't count on that.

Jerry is ahead of Steinbach that's for sure.

He's already taken first team snaps.

He has to be done. He's done nothing to distinguish hmself in an even worse than expected receiver corp. Where's that thread from a few months ago were most thought he was a "lock"?

One question that can't be answered yet is IR, there are a few weeks to go and it wouldn't surprise me if someone got an injury or e.g. Hartline ending on IR. Apart from that WR is anyone's guess, Jerry I think is gone.

you think Hogan is a lock? he is last on the depth chart I believe, would love to see les brown make the team he has great speed and size. unfortunately he cant block that can be taught to a degree

I don't think that Gates played much football at all, if any, in high school. The dude is learning the position an NFL level, which is a hard enough transition for those with a w lot more football experience. He is a developmental prospect in his SECOND year- given his raw speed and explosiveness I wouldn't even consider cutting bait on him so soon. In the long run, where do you people think that we're going with msarginal talents like Bess and Hartline? In my opinion nowwhwere, if they are playing prominent roles. Time to roll the bones on long term potential as oposed to mediocrity. Personally, an and for the long run, I would rather see Clyde Gates and Chris Hogan on this roster that Bess And Hartline. I'd rather see Naane and Pruitt start and secure Gates and Hogan, giving them more time to develop. YOu'll never have a great or even good passing game with talents as average as Bess and hartline starting, ain't gonna happen imo.

I wonder what happens to Thigpen. Sounds like he has been doing a pretty good job as a returner.

I would put Hartline on the PUP and buy more time for the younger guys to show what they can do.

I say they keep ten OL. They need to keep more than three OT.

I think the direction the team wants to go in will determine the roster. If you are all about developing the team and youth, do you keep certain guys on the roster? If you keep the older guys do you use them to help develop the younger guys? Do you believe you have a realistic chance of winning most of your games. If you find that to be unrealistic later in the year, do you cut veterans? Lots of questions.
