Palmer to Return?

all the guys on nfln were saying, in particular, deion sanders, that they think this is bunk. especially after cutting his brother. after all he said and now letting down teamates.

Pass, wasn't thrilled before the season and certainly not now. Talk to me when he gets cut. Doubt we are trading picks for a guy who had no offseason and makes like 12 or 13 million a year. We don't even have that kind of room.

Our FO mishandled the entire off-season publicity wise.

We certainly aren't going to undermine Henne now.

He's our guy. He's shown enough for me to say... Henne or Bust.. no matter how good that feels.

The dancing is over... it's time to rumble.

My gut says it's the chance at an easy 11 million, or finally being traded/cut. He's about to make the bengals owner look worse than al davis. It's probably too late to trade him this year. Now they have to give him what he wants ( release ) or they have to pay him the 11 mil while he most likely hangs out on the sideline. Man that 2nd/3rd rounder sure sounds good now, doesn't it bengals fans ??

The only thing they can do to get back at him is to start him right away and have him look awful out there. That wouldnt be very good for business either. But hey this is the franchise that "supposedly" turned down two 1st round picks to keep OchoCinco around year or two before testing FA. Awful.

imo i dont see why they did Ocho one way and palmer another >? but its not to late to get palmer he could back up Henne and help groom him some more and help Henne to become even better than he is and if Henne did get hurt or started laying eggs again then we would have a bk up plan yeah the trade deadline hsnt come and gone so imo id do it for a 3rd and let him help Henne to become better

Mike Brown is cutting off his nose to spite his face.

If we pick up Palmer it will have nothing to do with Henne. It will be because we need VERY high quality depth at the QB position. Matt Moore has looked to be a serviceable backup, but nothing that really excites me yet. If we grab Palmer, Moore is on the way out the door, or is traded somewhere for some value.

Bengals are still something like 30 million under the cap. Even if he shows up it doesn't kill their cap, just throws a wrench in their plans.

I'm not sure how well the players on the team will receive him though. He pretty much left them all out to dry, said he wanted a trade, misses all of training camp and preseason and then he's just going to show up to get paid? Don't think I'd be onboard with that if I played for the Bengals.

If CPalmer is released I wouldn't see a problem with bringing him to be Henne's backup. No way we should offer any mid-rounder for him. Anything higher than a 6th or 7th would be ridiculous.
However, if he reports to the Bengals I hope they just force him to start week 1. That would be hilarious.

I would take Palmer in a second. It wouldnt bother me one bit to start him week 1 and let it rip. He's a smart guy, Im sure he could learn the offense quickly.

If Ireland were smart, he wouldve faxed Palmer a playbook about 6 weeks ago and told him to be ready just incase.

I know, I know, thats not legal by NFL rules, but wtf would know? And even if Goodell found out about it, it would be worth the penalty in the circumstance that he were traded here. Thats called being smart, not cheating. All teams do it. Hell, Belichick taped teams practices. Didnt seem to hurt them much when they got caught huh? Last time I checked, they still have a bunch of rings to show for it. You have to be clever with this ****.

But, of course we didnt even manage to get the playbooks to our OWN ****ING PLAYERS!!! when we had that one day opportunity in April. No way would they have been smart enough to fax Palmer a playbook. Real ****ing prepared these dip****s are.

I'd take Palmer if he got cut, or would re-work his contract for a trade. (A lot to pay a guy who may or may not be starter) I'd still go with Henne at the start of the season though, and have Palmer be getting ready and learning the offense in the meantime. If Chad plays good then he can keep playing and if not, there is Carson waiting to come save the offense. Win Win in my estimation.

Yep, like I said it's way too late now. Would have been a bit late 3 weeks ago but still manageable, Pennington managed. But now it's way too late. Got to hope for the best in Henne and if that don't work out we draft a guy next offseason.

Nope its all on Henne now. If he fails then we need to draft our QB of the future.

Even if by some chance we get Palmer and he ends up the starter, we still better draft a QB =)...and I'm not talking about in round two.
