Panicky Miami Dolphins fans lose sight of the big picture

Nice article. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither will the Fins. See improvement this year and hope for a winning next year.

I disagree with the article. I can understand where our team is at right now. The problem is when you start certain individuals over others when you know damn well the one's sitting are better football players.

They must be in trade mode still with that thinking. Just trade all the guys your not playing from the Saban regime cus they are not your guys. Ronnie B and Jason Allen.

This article is so contradictory. The first part he tells the fans we need to keep quiet because we need total "rebuilding" and we shouldn't make any fuss about trying to win, and that Parcells and Ireland don't care if they lose games this year because we are "rebuilding". Then the end states how coach Sparano and vet players feel like this is a must win because 0-2 is a bad place to be and winning is vital to boosting our confidence and turning around our culture. So should we care or should we not?(no wonder players and fans are always upset here it is because of these mixed signals)

I tend to side with Sparano and the players that want to do what we need to get this team winning instead of going to 0-3,0-4,0-5, and being eliminated halfway through the season. Staying competitive keeps playoff hopes alive and gives the players something hard to work towards take that away or not caring about that sends a bad message to the team. This is why I get mad because this team needs someone to believe in them and feel they can win this year and do what is needed to get them there.

Did you actually read the article? Nowhere in there did it say the Ireland and BP don't care about winning. Of course they care about winning and winning now. The article said that if they don't win this year they know they won't be fired. They know they have time to rebuild. It didn't say the fans shouldn't care about winning now. It said don't hit the panick button. It's a good article that's on the money. You might want to read it again.

I hate articles that are condescending in tone and just pat fans on the head and say....."There there, things are well under control and, there is nothing to worry your pretty little head about."

No kidding. I've said before I'd take this coaching staff, this draft class, and our current roster over last year's. But I also saw things in the opening loss to the Redskins last year that were troubling. These were not problems we put behind us, they followed us for the rest of the season.

Of course I'm disappointed in the loss to the jets, but I realized it was a possibility. What concerns me about the loss last week were problems in areas I expected to see improvement in right away. I did not expect to see a playoff team right away, or even an 8-8 squad right away. But a team that plays with more discipline than we showed and doesn't beat itself. Having less talent than our opposition is a problem that will take more than one year to fix. But playing sloppy football like last year's squad should be unacceptable to all of us.

But now that I've had my knuckles slapped by The Herald, I will retreat to my cave and don my sackcloth and ashes in shame.

Fortunately for the fans, the coach and his players aren't in the same frame of mind. To them, the win-loss ledger remains the primary measure of success, even on the ground floor of reconstruction.THINKING VICTORY
Jason Ferguson called Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, a Week 2 contest for a Dolphins team not expected to win as many as eight games this season,
a ``must win.''
And Sparano isn't far behind him. Actually, he is right beside him.
''I feel like when you lose your first game of the season that your second game is a must win, no matter what,'' Sparano said. ``They are all must wins when you're trying to change a culture.''

The lines above stress how Sparano is stressing how every win is important and very crucial. But the author basically tells us fans we should not panic or worry about it and states winng now itsn't part of ireland and bp's blueprint.

I agree with Sparano & the players and plan to express it regardless of what this author thinks I should feel.

Too bad he's right. You might think he's being condescending because you're the type of fan he's talking about. I knew, when i read the article, that i wasn't guilty of those things. I keep an open mind and I'm FAAAR from critical. I absolutely LOVED the article. Certain dolphin fans:rolleyes: swear they are above the media and do nothing but criticize everything. Most of them come from message boards and post very hateful things on articles. It's ridiculous.

I didn't lose sight of anything, the only people who lost sight are the people who ACCEPTED losing that game last week. A game we should have won. The Jets are a better team than we are, and yes we are rebuilding. But that doesn't give us any excuses to just throw that game away in the fourth quarter like we did. The same way past regimes here did.

Honestly, I think the article is a complete waste. In fact, I think it is a bigger joke than any of the other dribble I read over there. First, it's not the fans and their knee jerk reactions to the first week loss. Nor is it as he puts it "Amateur Critics" that tend to jump the ship of reality.

Lets look at his article for what it is. A freaking joke. First, we all have to realize that 90 percent or more of Fans...ANY FANS...get their news on a team from the Media. We formulate a good portion of our opinions based on what we read in the mainstream media or in the absence of physically watching the game, other fans who we trust.

In the case of this article, why is he not pointing his fingers at writers "expert and professional" writers like his colleague Armando who will bash this team at every chance. Or report that so and so can't catch, or that Ginn looks like he is having problems, or his and others opinions on the coaching and game management?

The fact is that on Monday, we are all pissed because of a loss, then we read the newspapers and see that they are not calling for calm and level headed opinions of the game...no, they are saying that it was a total blown opportunity that looks more like last year than a rebuild. So what is our opinions now of that game? Exactly.

Israel Gutierrez is an idiot if he thinks that fans tend to jump ship way too soon after one game and are not realizing that one, it is one game, and 2 that this team is rebuilding. Fans are not that naive and dumb to not realize that...we just tend to regurgitate the drivel by the local "media experts" that feed us that line of garbage to sell papers and get web hits.

Sorry, this is complete BS by that author and I am really surprised that more of you didn't see that as well.

*Pffft* You can put on your rose colored glasses and act like Kevin Bacon's character in Animal house screaming "All is well!" at the top of your lungs all you like. Myles Finch put it best in his post. I didn't expect to see a well oiled 10 win team. I DID however expect to see a team that wasn't adept at beating itself, I expected to see discipline, and I didn't see that.

I'm not "Panicky", and, I haven't called for anyone to be fired, benched, or anything. I have this ability we big kids call "Critical thinking" and if that makes me panicky, well, then, that's fine too. I don't fall on the man sabre of every single player or coach just because they wear aqua and orange. I've got a funny title for his next article but I don't want to violate the TOS.
