Ok, so I decided to google "Cleveland Browns message board" just out of sheer curiosity. Kind of like slowing down near a car accident to see the carnage I guess.

I came across a this thread.

I really try my best to stay away from ESPN these days for obivious reasons...especially Sportscenter. This guy says he saw something on Sportscenter about Parcells talking to the Browns about a "possible consultant job". Is this complete garbage or what? Did anyone else see/hear this? Or are those fans really grasping at straws for something positive to talk about?

I can see why he'd be interested in the Cleveland job...great sun, hot babes, sweet beaches, fabulous golf and boating...o wait

Plenty of NFL teams seem to get by just fine without Parcells. It might suck to lose him but it won't be the end of the world.

Oh, and I haven't heard anything about such a move anyway.

You don't think the animal would be feeding on this if true?

Even if this isn't true, I wouldn't expect BP to stay around much longer IMO. He already left us with other guys to lead the team anyway.

There comes a point where the man has to be thinking retirement... he is much closer to retirement today than he was 10 years ago. If I were betting, I would bet that he would prefer to retire working out of Miami. He has a job that most with his past could only dream of. Why on earth would he go anywhere else?

Think about it. Look how far this team has come in the past 2 years. We are only a few pieces away from being a true powerhouse. I can see SB in the next 2-3 years, or at least it wouldnt suprise me. He is going to stick around. We are getting closer, he wants another ring. Trust me.

I think he sticks around for a good while. He loves it in Miami and he loves the way his role is set up. Only way I see him leaving is if Ross steps on his toes, which I don't think will happen.

Because the OTB is much better than driving 2 blocks and playing the ponies/dogs in person.

The Ross thing concerned me at first(leave and take the balace of your contract with you-no strings attached), but Parcells stayed. The guy has carte blanche(sp?) to do as he wishes with this franchise, unlike his other stays. I expect him to retire here.

Parcells is NOT coming to CLE. Randy Learner is not going to drop the kind of $$$ he'll demand. Randy cares about one thing;

Aston Villa Football Club

He inheirited the Browns and is just responding to pressure from the fan base. He wants someone who can completely run the team so he can scurry off to the UK, BUT he's not going to pay big $$$ for them. Here's the financial pecking order for Randy;

Aston Villa
everything else
Cleveland Browns

one owner compared to owners who are multiplying by the day might be a reason. also , he gets bored after a while and wants to move.

Sadly, with someone like Bill Parcells you are going to have these rumors this time of year EVERY year, until he finally makes a move. Personally, I will be a little surprised if he stays with the team beyond this season. I am not saying he is going Cleveland, but I do think he will take his money and move to another team.Why? For no other reason then the fact that he likes exploding teams and building them back up. After two years in charge of the Dolphins, I bet he will feel comfortable with Ireland and Sparano running things on their own.

I do hope he stays, and you be estatic if he returns for a third season, but my gut feeling is he is gone after this year.

My biggest fear is that Ross will feel the need to have to "replace" Parcells and hire his good buddy Carl Peterson. If Peterson comes aboard he will probably want "his" guys which could spell doom for guys like Ireland and Sparano. Obviously that is the worst case scenario, but it is something I really fear.
