I always enjoy reading Whitlock's articles (even if I don't agree with them). He tells it like it is.
I like Whitlock too but I disagree w/ his opinion in this article.
"telling it like it is" doesn't really mean anything when the person writing what "it is" can't tell "it" from a hole in the ground. he has a very warped perspective of reality. granted it's more interesting to read his articles than anything written by Generic Sports Writer #544, but that doesn't mean what he's saying is worth a damn.
You will not be 1-15 this season and you won a div title which you hadn't done since 2000. Overall it wasn't a success but you are certainly better now than when he took over and I blame the poor performance this year on your owne for his Mickey Mouse approach to trying to get a HC and QB this offseason undercutting his current HC and QB.
The worse thing that happened with this franchise other than the "Parcells Regime" was that 11-5 season and Brady´s injury.
It raised expectations and made us believe we had a solution long term.
Instead of sucking for a while, adding high draft picks the 11-5 season justified the high picks on big corn fed lineman and here we are again.
Groundhog Day.
We can bleep Andie MacDowell one day and wake up with Cher on the radio the next...
if that season didn't happen you'd be working on 9 years and counting w/o going to the playoffs. It's not like you have been bad the last 2 years, I think you are bad so far(it's a long season and things can change) is b/c of what your owner did not b/c of what BP did and I'm very critical of BP as a GM type. I do think BP is a mediocre GM type but he's not the reason for the current mess.
I dont´like to play with "ifs" but if Parcells wasn´t our GM, we probably would have drafted a first round quality QB, not waste a pick on White, and so on... This FO is high on making luxury picks when we don´t have the basics, like Bush for instance.
I totally agree with the article. Parcells was a great HC but as a GM, he was mediocre. Moreover, he, like Brett Favre, seems to always be about himself and not so much about the team. Keep in mind that he announced right before the Pats' Super Bowl that he was leaving for New York. It also seems to me that he leaves gigs just before reality reveals his hype for the hype it is.
