Bill Parcells himself admits he became notorious for his franchise hopping, and "Hamlet-like resignations" from NFL teams..
But in his new biography, "Parcells: A Football Life," the former Dolphins executive admits an uncomfortable relationship with Dolphins owner Steve Ross contributed to his early resignation in Miami, ending his tenure as the Dolphins' vice president of football operations after two and a half years.

In the book written in third-person by Nunyo Demasio, Parcells, the NFL's most accomplished turnaround artist labeled his Dolphins tenure as one of his "rare failures" because he didn't elevate the franchise to new heights.
In a book obtainted by the SunSentinel, the biography to be released on Tuesday tells the inside story of Parcells' Hall of Fame career, from start to finish. In the Dolphins specific portions Parcells claims he joined the Dolphins because of his friendship and admiration for former team owner Wayne H. Huizenga.
Parcells also admits he never felt comfortable with "neophyte owner" Steve Ross, and was bothered when Ross never followed through on a contract extension Ross routinely mentioned to him.
"Ross told me on about four different occasions, 'Well, I want to sit down and talk to you about the future.' He never ever does do it," Parcells says in the book. "I'd been waiting for him and he doesn't do it. I'm not pushing him, but he never seems to have the time."
The book relives Parcells' decision to join the Dolphins' front office, even detailing how Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank was in his Saratoga Springs, N.Y. home negotiating the contract shortly before he secretly worked out a deal with Huizenga over the phone
