Parcells, Cowboys Release 'Terrible' Kicker Cortez

The Dallas Cowboys waived kicker Jose Cortez on Monday, one day after he missed a 29-yard field goal in a 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Cowboys signed rookie Shaun Suisham to take his place.

"Just been too many erratic things," said Cowboys coach Bill Parcells, who added that Cortez was "terrible" during pregame warmups Sunday.

Cortez made 12-of-16 field goals and was 3-of-6 on attempts longer than 40 yards.

He played in the XFL. What did you expect?
 
The funniest thing was when I was watching NFL primetime and I seen him miss the kick I said to myself "Cortez is done in a Cowboys uniform!"
 
This guys a complete bum. My friend is a 49ers fan and I remember some of the horrible playoff games he had.
 
Glad he's gone. He sucked, but the Cowboy's should have scored more that 10 points that game. Before the game if you had told me 13 points would have won this one I would have laughed at you.
 
I heard Parcells fired him right on the spot, he should have been fired right after he missed the FG. Jose Cortez completely sucks and is one of the worst kickers I've ever seen... He sucked a Niner, he sucked as a Redskin, I heard he even sucked as a Viking despite only doing Kickoffs, and even though it finally looked like he was going to have a somewhat decent season in Dallas, he frickin sucks. Glad they fired his a$$.
 
I heard the Eagles picked him up. I thought that Todd France, the guy from NFL Europe, was doing a good job with them. Oh well, i hate the Eagles so I hope this one backfires.

All of France's kicks are hideous though...my best friend is an Eagles fan and pulls his hair out when France kicks...

That being said....Cortez?

Dude is gonna have no hair if Akers does'nt get back.
 
france was good in preseason with the bucs and almost got the job from matt bryant, but i guess gruden took experience in that situation. he also won like kicker of the year in nfl europe or something
 
Cortez has been cut by about 10 different teams. Other than his inaccuracy most teams don't think he gets enough lift on the ball. Bring back Gonzo.
 
Cortez was my backup kicker on my fantasy league and I had to play him this past week as my other kicker had a bye. I just cut him as well. :lol:

i wish i could see that video of Larry Allen fixin to tear his head off. that was hilarious.
 
I'd take France over Cortez any day though, Cortez is not only horrible. But has no passion for the game at all. He cant make anything over 40 yards, and really is a disgrace. I'm suprised the Eagles bothered with him.
