And that is finish fixing the defense! It is obvious that is our biggest need and Parcells is known for building strong defenses. Defense is what he loves. He started with our good rookie CBs who next season will have experience under them and should be much better.

On offense the only big need is #1 WR. We have the deepest run game in the nfl, a strong o-line, and a solid QB. Possibly may need a TE but that is way behind the needs on defense. Everything became crystal clear these past three games that the defense is the weak link. Even with the turnovers, that is something that was going to happen with a 1st year QB.

The future looks bright. The offense is almost set in place, we just need a Boldin/Marshall/Austin type guy. It just sucks that you have to wait 8 months to see it.

And a #2 WR. And a #1 TE. And possibly a QB, depending on how 2010 unfolds.

Don't fool yourself, the offense is just as broken as the defense.

I disagree about the QB, but seriously, the O has serious holes too. I don't like Fasano, he's a marginal receiver and a terrible blocker. We probably need more than one wide out, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who is less that thrilled with the play of Vernon Carey, and really our pass blocking as a whole.

We got needs out the ***... Including in our coaching staff and FO.

Camarillo, Hartline and Bess would all make a great #2 WRs. Camarillo had no drops at all this season which is a great accomplishment. Bess fights for the ball like wes welker and Hartline has made some deeper catches. there is nothing wrong with them. We may need a TE but its not the end of the world without one as long as we get a #1 WR.

easier said than done...

a #2? hartline and bess not good enough for you? a TE yes but thats nt even close to as big of a need as LB's, FS, or NT for us on d. to say the offense has as many holes as the defense is completely wrong.

Hartline or Camarillo will do. And NO to the QB. Just no...

Edit: You make a point regarding the TE though.

Bess is a #3. He's a guy you want in the slot.

Hartline, right now, is a #4. He's had a couple of really nice plays, and he has some potential, but he's not someone you want to routinely count on in your base offense. Maybe he can grow into something, but if we're talking about immediate projection of needs going into 2010, then no, Hartline does not fit the bill as a starting WR.

And Camarillo and Hartline are basically the same guy, which makes things worse.

They will not do. Not going forward. They're nice for now, and Camarillo will go down in Dolphins history for keeping us from going 0-16, but we need better receivers at both starting positions.

I'm surprised at how many people are dismissing the idea that we need anything other than a #1 WR. People, just acquiring a #1 WR will do you no good if your other WRs can't benefit from the attention that #1 gets. Look at Carolina: Steve Smith draws attention all day, but Muhsin Muhammed and Dwayne Jarrett aren't exactly lighting the world on fire as a result. Now contrast Carolina with New England, where Randy Moss and Wes Welker thrive when the defense devotes too much attention to the other receiver. Or look at Arizona, where Anquan Boldin dominates when defenses worry about Larry Fitzgerald, and vice-versa.

Camarillo, Hartline, and Bess are nice little receivers. They are not what you want to rely on week in and week out, however, as this season has reminded us all too well.

As for the QB situation... Henne has bought himself time. He'll go into 2010 as the starter, but he's got to play better. If he doesn't, then this front office will find someone who will.

Has anyone used the Defense wins championships cliche, yet? It's needed.

18-1 folks. The best offense in NFL history smacked down by a solid defense.

I disagree. I think our WRs are fine. I like Fasano, however I think we need a real threat at TE. Someone who can create mismatches out there. The real help is needed on defense. Can't stop the BIG play. Our O puts points up, our D gives points up.

Or look at the Saints since 2006. Very powerful offense. Weak defense cause them to miss the playoffs in 2007 and 2008, doing no better then this years Dolphins-even with Brees, Colston, Henderson, Deuce/Bush/Thomas. And now they're limping into the playoffs since their D has struggled the past few games after starting strong.

Sure hope so. Now, if he can avoid big mistakes like Gerbil, we may be ok. Right now we need a ligit #1 ILB, a NT, and help at at least one Safety position. We've got to have it or we're screwed. I personally think we still need more help at CB as well.

Our offense struggles to put up points. How many times have we gone three and out in a critical situation, or had to settle for a field goal attempt when we needed six points?

We can't stop the big play, but we can't make one, either.
