The official line (printed on the parking passes): If you get there early (the first hour after the gates open) you can park where you want (within your designated color lot). If you get there after that they may tell you where to park.
In reality, people tend to ignore the parking attendants and park where they want.
Your entry gate doesn't constrain where you are allowed to park.
