Part one Camp Report for this evenings session

I've tried to make it clear in other threads that I really don't care who wins this race. I don't like Frerotte. I don't think he's the answer, and I don't think he's an upgrade over what we have, but he knows the system and is, apparantly, a good leader. I, like everyone else, wanted to see Feeley step up and win this thing big, but, unlike a lot of people, I realize now that's not happening. All I was saying is that he needs to be a man about it.

I don't think I'm "clueless" about the whole situation, but I'm certainly not in the locker room, nor do I claim to be. I just think the pro-Feeley group around here has been stirring up a lot of **** that doesn't need to be stirred up.
So anybody who still thinks Feeley has a chance to be a good QB should just shut up about it while everyone else slays him to their hearts' content. Is that what you want?

No, not at all. I hope Feeley can break through this like Matt Hasselbeck did in Seattle. I see a lot of similarities between the two situations, and I can only hope that AJ turns out as well as Matt did. Trust me... I do NOT want to have Gus as our QB, but right now he looks to be the better of the two.

I didn't mean my posts to be so inflamatory, so I apologize for that. All I was trying to say was that it seems like people are getting to the point where they are jumping all over anyone that criticizes Feeley, and I'd hate to see people stop posting camp reports because they don't want to get jumped all over for criticizing someone.

Besides, I haven't been ehre long enough to ask anyone to do anything. :french:

i want gus... i want whoever is playing the best. PERIOD.... If gus is playing hot.. then gus it is. Or Sage or brock Or AJ... or who ever. I dont care. take care of the ball.. play smart.. and dont throw INTS..
End of bickering

I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from.

I also think that Gus looks to be the better of the two right now and I don't have a problem with people saying that. I have a problem with the people that constantly challenge my opinion or my right to express it. I don't think that anybody would argue that one bad game by Gus and one good game by AJ won't muddle the picture back to it's previous murky existence. So, tell me this please, what seperates Gus and AJ by so much that this scenario isn't possible? Is Gus the end all be all of starting QB's or is he simply a decent QB who knows the system very well? Is AJ simply a scrub or is he struggling to keep up in this QB compettion because of lack of familiarity with the system and negative game circumstances that are beyond his control?

Now, the usual suspects will quickly say he's a scrub, that's to be expected but, the people with half an ounce of patience or understanding wil know that the competition is not over.

Most everyone accepted that Gus would know the system and have an advantage coming in, and most everyone agreed (again, I'm only speaking of reasonable people) that Feeley has this whole season to prove himself one way or the other, yet there are so many that have already abandoned all hope in AJ after the second preaseason game. And that is completely wrong, no matter how you slice it.

Ozzy did mention that AJ looked good also, and that he was looking for second and third receivers but, all that got glossed over to focus on the negative because that's vogue when it comes to AJ....

Here's another report that AJ looked good yesterday but, don't let that make anybody think twice........link

thaks for the report!! Is there going to be a part2?

wow this is some good stuff I love it, probably some of the best debate on this board in a long time. My 2 cents: I'm not a fan of A.J., but people do have to realize that this is his 3rd system in 3 years. He isnt going to be able to come out and know the system anything like Gus should know the system. That said I dont like what was being said about him throwing the ball really hard at people close to him. You cant use the arguement that Gordon said to throw the ball harder, that may have been the case had it only happend once, but from the report it happend a number of time.

I think that if A.J. is getting aggrovated with his O-Line, WR, or RB he is entitled to get into their face and get onto them. We all know this is something Dan used to do all th time. That is showing leadership, that is showing fire, chucking a ball at them is throwing a 2 year old fit. There again this could all be speculation, but I have a hard time thinking of a reason AJ would be asked to throw the ball hard at another player.

AJ isnt a horrible QB like you hear all the time on hear, that he is a bum and worthless. When he gets time in the pocket he can be a very good passer. Personally I dont think this QB contro should be over. A.J. was made to start in the 1st game of the season where everybody is a little rusty, not to mention the Bears were blitzing like it was the SuperBowl. I would like to see A.J. get 1 more shot with the starting team before he is counted out, but you also have to take into consiteration that Saban is trying to get a QB to work with his team for the next couple weeks. Crazy situation.

I certainly didn't ever intend to give off the impression that the competition was over. AJ has a lot of time to prove himself, and he may well have the more talent of the two. Gus has the advantage of knowing the system and AJ has the advantage of being younger. I think the talk of AJ not making the team is ridiculous as is the talk of Sage/Berlin being our backup. Still, I think AJ would have to have a heck of a game in Pitt and/or have Gus play like garbage in order to work his way back into this. I just don't think that Saban will let the QB situation flip flop all season like Wanny.

As far as focusing on the negative aspects of AJs performance, the problem is that if he's pouting about being in the position he's in (not saying he is, but drilling balls at the outlet back doesn't seem like the normal thing to do), can do as much harm for him winning the job as throwing a pick in Pitt. He needs to learn and then take advantage of the situation once he gets it.

He He. Don't let InFins bully you. He's actually one of the more reasonable posters, except for his unexplainable unending support of AJ. (Some of us think AJ has incriminating pictures).
And, my God, don't feel like you can't express an opinion, passionately if warranted, because you're worried about how long you've been here or that it'll be inflammatory. We're all (well most) big boys and girls. We can take it and most often give it right back! No harm, no foul.

Don't worry... I'm still here :)

I dont want to see Gus starting in a Phins uniform in 06, I just really dont, hes too boring.........I really, really, want AJ to shine at Pitt., I want to see him under C come week one.

Wait.....before I get into a big argument by someone who posts, "So you are saying that you wouldent want to see Gus out there because he is boring? Wow, I want the QB who has proven themselves more, regardless if they are boring or not." I would like to say that I already know what KIND OF NUMBERS, not exact numbers Gus is going to put up, something like 13TD's to 12INTS, but with Feeley, you dont know what your getting, IMO if Feely plays up to his potential he can be a 25TD 10 INT type of guy easy, Gus not so, I feel the only reason why he is winning this competition at this point is b/ of his knowledge of the scheme, not skill.

Wow...I've been reading one of the best threads in a long time and then all of a sudden you come in with that?!?! Wow...you haven't been reading the threads for the past couple weeks. Don't respond, because that's obvious. Have you ever read anything on Peyton Manning?? He has to take polaroids of his outfits so that he can remember what goes together in matching his clothes...THAT'S BORING...but on the field, surrounded by quality...he's phenomenal. I'll take that over 'chance' anyday. I am with the majority that just want the best out there. I have no particulars in terms of Frerotte, Feeley, Sage...heck even Brock. I just want whoever gives us the best shot. That goes for everyone on the team. If Saban's wife all of a sudden got a cannon arm and made the cuts then she could start for all I care. Just give our phins the chance to win. That's our motto this year.
