Am I the only one that is dissappointed in our lack of pass rush after our first game? MAybe I was getting my hopes up against the champs, but I thought Saban / Capers would have been able to hatch a plan to get to the QB more often than we did....

if u think of top 3 or 4 offensive lines tho, u gotta put steelers in there, i think our defense will perform better against lesser teams

I'm not sure what you expected. We got 3 sacks against a unit that sent 3 linemen to the probowl last year and played a huge part in the SB win.

yah yo next to maybe KC, indy, maybe SD? next to those teams steelers have the best o-line in the league

We got pretty good pass rush front our front 4, however, when your defense is on the field that long....well.

All things considered the pass rush was not at least adequate. Case in point there was that series when JT came in and dropped Batch back for a significant loss.

Keeping things in perspective the Steelers OL is execellent better in run blocking but effective in pass protection as well. The bigger issue was not being able to contain Parker. If you can't stop the run and get off the field on third down..... well y'all know the rest.

did any1 notice that when we BLITZED batch he was forced to throw away the ball or an incompleteion. We have to start blitzing early and often

yeah steelers o-line is good they don't have big time player but they performe good as a unit that is better then having all stars that can't play together

to answer ur post, yes, ur the only one dissapointed. im quite sure our d-line is gonna be one of our strengths this year.

I think so too. I think the 3 sacks against the Steelers' O-line is a pretty good indicator of that.

People tend to get carried away with the sack stat. Case in point, the 3 sacks we had against the Steelers. Sacks don't always represent a pass rush. The Steelers had 3 sacks, too, but their pass rush was much better than ours. Daunte was under pressure all night, forced to throw early on many throws. Except for one or two series, we put no pressure on Batch at all, and that allowed him the success that he had. Jason Taylor's sack came 6 seconds after the ball was snapped. That's not what you call rushing the passer. The lack of a pass rush was one of the biggest problems in the loss.

Saban says in his day-after press conference they gameplanned with less pressure packages than they usually have. This was in an effort to stop the run...guess it didn't really work?!?
