surtain is my favorite player and i was upset when we traded him but we had to do it. I think he is the best corner the fins have ever had, do you think he will play a few years with k.c and the retire a fin? I think he will always be a fin and i would not mind if he came back in a few years to finish off his carrer as a nickle back!

In this day of the salary cap, if you're good you're given whatever you ask for, and then a year later you're let go for cap space. Wayne Gandy is facing that situation in New Orleans. They outbid us for him, and now they they he's making too much $........Go figure.

Anything is possible. Pat could be cut, and he'd be on the market again. But it will be awhile before that happens, if it even does.

I would hope he could retire a fin...

If Surtain wants to retire as a Dolphin there should be no problem. When a player's career is over everyone usually forgets business decisions and just remember the glory years.

There are many examples of NFL teams signing former players to retire with the team they want. The most recent example is Richmond Webb retiring as a Dolphin. :)

He was one of my favorite players on the Fins I would be happy to take him back any time. IMO we should have never traded him. I would have dumped Madison. S.M. is the one who is always getting burned.:evil::evil:

I still like Madison and he does well to defend the endzone when it counts, but he also seems to always be chasing WR,s in the open field after the catch.

If you like Surtain so much then be happy for him. Vegas odds say that he has a much better shot at a ring with KC than with us this year.

Agreed and I doubt Miami would have given him so much bonus money. It would be like paying two second overall draft picks this year.

Surtain's seven-year deal averages $7.4 million. He received a $6.5 million option bonus and he will get a $5.75 million roster bonus in 2006 and a $2.25 million roster bonus in 2007. At 29, that's a good deal for Surtain, even if he won't see the funny money in the back end of it.
