So if Pat White ends up beating out Henne for the starting QB position, would that require Jake and Vernon needing to switch positions.. and how difficult would it be for Jake to transition to the RT blindside?

i dont think there is any way that Pat White beats out Chad Henne but if he was to do that then i dont think that they will swith postions

Well there's a thought. I don't think it would take much.

why would they switch positions? Is Pat a right handed QB? I dont see White as a polished NFL QB as much as Henne would be

I dont know much about white... but Ill be the first to admit, right here, to everyone I called out in disagreement that we wouldnt take white [until day 2 at the earliest] that I definately was WAAAAAAY off the mark.. I wouldnt have guessed it.. ultimately I would have liked to see some trading down to aquire more picks, like the GD Rats did with seemingly every one of there picks.

pat white is left handed

I am not going to dip into that question because Pat White is not going to be a real contender for the starting QB position. Sure Ireland says he will be in the mix, but he is being brought here as a specialty player. Someone who can play WR, RB, QB and be a factor in the return game.

He will be Henne's backup for a long time, and will be a guy they will be comfortable with stepping in as a starter if Henne were to get hurt. With what they invested in Henne and how impressive he was in camp/preseason, he is still the guy for the future.

Why not? He was drafted higher than Henne and won all 4 of his bowl games whereas Henne lost all 4 of his OSU games and won only 1 of his bowl games. As a higher draft choice (44 vs 56), presumably we'll have more invested in White when signed. It's not out of the realm of possibility.

Pat White wasn't drafted as a QB. He was drafted as a WR. A WR who will give defensive coordinators fits in the wildcat.

i love that idea... line up white as a WR, chad as QB, pass forward past the LOS to Bess or Cam, draw the safeties and linebckers up, while running white behind the line, they throw back to white behind the line, white hits Ginn on the deep sideline for a TD... or something like that... I think the trifecta thinks/knows the possibilities are endless right now [with the wildcat and even normal formations]... I dont know though, the questions still remains, could we have dropped back even farther in the draft and still gotten him, since I trust in trifecta, I think and hope not

But what if Henne doesn't look any better than he did last TC and White ends up shining? Do you really think after signing him as a higher pick than Henne, the FO is gonna continue to make that distinction?

Being a Rutgers fan, i've seen a lot of Pat White...the fact i couldnt stand the guy the past few years assures me we've made a good choice. I do beleive that White was brought in as a speciality player. He said himself that he did talk to the dolphins about the Wildcat. Ussually they will play everything down, but the fact he str8 up has been saying proves he is def going to be heavily involved in the wildcat and his primary use is going to be for speciality things.

BUT things are crazy in this league. Im still not a full out beleiver in Henne being a done deal for 2010 and leaving penny as some lame duck. Dont get me wrong, from what i've seen Henne is a sick player and im excited about him, but im not quite on his jock so hard yet. You never know what White will do over the next few seasons and no one really knows the potential he could have and where exactly he'll fit in down the road. He was a good QB - much more of a running QB but never the less pretty good...so lets just see. Neway i guess the line switch is possible but thats even more wild speculation than white starting in the first place....

I suggest you listen to Ireland's post-draft press conference. No where does he hint of utilizing White as Qb. Ireland scouted White as a Qb too.

I thought Ted Ginn was supposed to be a factor in the return game?
