OK, I'm new here. So bash the new guy for making some suggestions. I grew up in Florida. Watched Czonka, Little, Marino, Clayton, Duper, etc. over the years. Does this qualify me to armchair coach? No. I just want to lay some stats out there, if I may.

Pat White, WV quarterback NCAA. Drafted 44th, overall by the Fins. Rookie. 6'2" 185lbs (when drafted) Heisman candidate.

WV career stats---
Passing 6,049 yards
Rushing 4,480 yards
65% passing completion
56 passing TD's
47 rushing TD's
I don't believe in QB ratings but for those that do 147.4
Sub 4.5 second 40 yard dash

This is a guy who has how many snaps in the NFL? Less than 10 I think.
If you've never seen him at work, do a search on YouTube for Pat White highlights. The kid was an incredible pocket quarterback in college. Made quick, well chosen decisions. Scrambles like few have in the NFL. Michael Vick without the dogs? Possibly. Maybe better. Who knows. He rolls out like lightning, up the middle in a second, has an arm (take a look at the highlights, please) AND is accurate.
It has been said he is afraid to take a hit in the NFL. How do you know? Or would break in half if someone hit him. How do you know? What kid wasn't a little bit afraid the first time they looked in the eyes of Seau, LT, or anyone else who could bury your head in the turf.
Can the kid come through? Are the Dolphins in need of some inspiration at this point? Henne did a decent job against the Saints. Would White have done any better? Odds say probably not. He certainly would have been a different QB to defend against. Everyone is talking about getting ready for next year, at this point? Let's finish this year. Let's see what that 44th pick has to offer. Why wait at this point? Hit him, let him throw better yet, let him scramble. Let some of these secondaries catch him. Send him up the middle. I know many will cringe but... Wildcat a few times a game.

There, hit ME...

No hitting at all. Do some youtube searches for Peter Warrick. Amazing athlete like few in the NFL.

Just saying....

Pat White was a wasted pick when we needed help at receiver and inside linebacker. We past up a few players who could help us now for him. I have never called a player a bust because they can't help where they are picked, but his pick was wasted.

Total waste of a pick! I'm still in shock they made this pick, Parcels and Co. do make mistakes.

I think he can be useful......but they stick him in at such random times. Not sure what our FO is trying to get out of him. He is fast once out on the perimeter, but he is thin and looks small back there. The college stats are meaningless.

You guys are talking "wasted" pick, "made" a mistake. Past tense... What's
done is done. Do you let the guy sit, and trade him off? Or, take a chance and see what he's made of?

give him time, if he pans out we will have a very dangerous 2 QB System, alongside the wildcat, and lets hope Ted Ginn becomes what we all want him to become, a deep threat, and we will have a very dangerous offense.

In terms of what we needed, it is a wasted pick. Ronnie Brown has shown he can throw a good football, making a Wildcat quarterback useless.

But it doesn't matter, everyone knows he is an incredible athlete and a proven winner. But for now he seems to be like a Brad Smith Lite, and that is not worth a high 2nd round pick.

We dont need a 2 qb system or anything like that. We have talent out of our conventional offense. Prisco put it best "Where this goes depends more on Chad Henne's development than the wildcat or Pat White". He is a mistake and for the first time I believe Ginn was a mistake....

Pat White is simply being groomed right now. His role will everntaully open up as he matures into the position. He has been taught a new way to deliver or throw the ball which often does not work. Regardless unless Henne gets injured we really are not going to know what we got with Pat White until next year. You can be sure that the staff has a long range plan for Pat right now. Wether he can live up to those expectations is another story.
