I know a lot of DolFans don't like White, or don't think he has what it takes to be a starter, & was just brought in for the WildCat. Not true. He was brought in to be a QB, which is what he is on the roster as.

I know he's a tad short, & a lefty. Same was said about Steve Young, which is why he rode the bench for so long. Pat has a ton of talent & skills, he has excellent QB fundamentals...vision, accuracy, arm strength, comes up big when he needs to. This is based off his WV tenure of course, but the plays he was in, he looked like he has excellent potential. He has a little work to do with the college to NFL transition, other than that he was it takes to be a QB in this league. We will see more of him this week against Indy, & further see what he's made of. But I see so many posts referring that Henne isn't the answer, etc.

The good news is that Pat White will be our QB sooner or later, adjusting the line takes care of the lefty status, & he's 6'1", so he's not extremely short, it's not going to make any difference. He will add a few pages to our playbook bc he's able to make a lot of plays neither Chad can. Henne has arm strength, but no accuracy. I'm not hopped up on Pat White Kool Aid just bc I'm hoping, I'm hyped about him bc of the skill he possesses at QB. A lot on here agree with me, a lot don't. But watch some of his YouTube videos & look at his accuracy, pocket presence, & ability to find the open guy & buy an extra second or 2 keeping the play alive.

Believe in Pat White. The more he plays, the more he'll prove himself. And he will be playing a lot more. Unless Henne steps in & becomes great, ha, Pat White will be our starter sometime, Probably next season, but not ruling out late season this year.

You cant possible be comparing Pat White to Steve Young. Young was over two inches and 20 pounds heavier and was not a run first qb.

Also let me get you up to date on what happened with Steve Young. Steve young went to the USFL and was a starter then went to the NFL and was a starter then after being horrible in Tampa Bay was traded to the 49ers to play behind Joe Montanna. So are you implying we sit him on the bench for like 7 years and he will become a hall of famer also I guess we have to find a hall of famer to play infront of him.

Don't think they brought him in as a QB at all regardless of what they say - sure its important he can do the 3rd QC role and they don't want to disappoint the kid but .... if there's one thing that characterises the players they go after they are all big. Sparano talks about it all the time - getting bigger and stronger. One of the main reasons Beck was blown out was lack of height and small hands (something White has also struggled with). No way they spend a mid 2nd rnd pick on a wide receiver-sized QB - well not one that's going to be a future starter anyway

When did he gain a inch? And when will he gain a few pounds? And a better arm? This is the NFL and potential is a dirty word.
And OMFG, you consider that he will be our starting QB as GOOD NEWS?

Heck, he is not even Eric Crouch.

So? Pat White is roughly the same height as ............... Drew Brees?

That would be basically correct main differance is they dont have a barely six foot 195 guy trying to run the ball taking hits and thenturning around and trying to play qb.

I like what little I've seen of Pat White. He can scramble and he has a cannon of an arm. If he can settle down and stop overthrowing the wideouts (Isn't it nice to have a QB who's problem is he's got too much arm strength?) we'll have a decent QB. I fully support bringing Pennington back next year and having an open constest between all 3 QB's. We know what we have in Pennington. The worst that happens is that Pennington wins. At best either Henne or White step up and become a real franchise QB. I'm excited and I think the Pat White pick will pay off for us next year.

I personally like White. Because he has intangibles you cant teach. In a game like today where defenses are ferocious as ever...Especially with our yet to be proven O Line...Pat White would be a great change of pace with pennington. I actually love what the coaching staff is doing utilizing white. Im glad they are using him in games because alot of people been chirping wondering what the world are we gonna use him for...well now you know...Hes gotta make plays though or his chances will be slim to none..he has all the smarts and talent to get the job done..

Size doesnt mean much now a days..I mean..look at sproles...These small football players are real elusive. And hard to spot and tackle

Well maybe if white never had to throw I would agree but Sproles doesnt have to take these hits and still throw the ball.

I haven't seen anything from Pat White in the preseason playing against 3rd and 4th teamers to think he will be a professional qb anytime soon. I certainly don't want him as the starter now.

No doubt Young was the starter in Tampa - totally different stories

I didnt like the pick but only because it was a 2nd rounder. I like Pat White the player , I think he's a great Qb with great mechanics. He's certainly not a Run first Qb as Dlocks posted. He needs some time, think about it like a special project. Which is why everybody coming out of college is a PROSPECT.
