Coordinator Gunther Cunningham says the Chiefs plan to take a "sledgehammer" to their defense this offseason.
The most obvious cap cut is LB Kendrell Bell. After that, CBs Patrick Surtain and Ty Law, WLB Donnie Edwards, and third S Greg Wesley may be on the chopping block. The Chiefs lack any sort of depth behind those veterans, so there would appear to be a good chance their defense will be awful in 2008.

Although we are looking for a Bill Parcells Youth Infusion, we still need a secondary and Surtain more than proved himself in Miami. Surtain is up there in age, but I think he would be a mighty fine addition back in the Miami Secondary again.

Jason Allen, surprisingly looks like he's "catching on" and I really like what Will Allen does. Andre Goodman's been out for a while and was never a star in the first place. Correct me if I'm wrong.

While Surtain may be old, if Miami could pick him up in his final years cheap I believe he could add quite a bit to our secondary. Sam Madison (33) showed he is capable still, there was no reason to ever lose either of them.

Surtain is only 31 years old and has plenty of time left to show spectacular play.

Ultimately, will he be in Miami? Probably not.

Would I like him back? Sure, why not?

Rumors are that he and Ty Law will see the axe in Kansas City. Would you be oppossed to bringing him back at a reduced salary?

I would welcome him with open arms... He would still be an immediate upgrade over anyone we have now

If it makes us better than I'm not against it.

I would love to have him back. He was the one piece of the secondary that we lost that I dreaded the most. Yeah he's in his 30s, but these days alot of players are playing well into their mid to late 30s. I'd say he's worth a shot, albeit cheaply, but definitely worth a look, especiall after all he's done for us in Miami.

He is not what he once was, I would rather stay with Allen and draft someone.

As long as the condition is no prospects or draft picks given up, which i doubt would happen, I would welcome them to our secondary.

My understanding is that he is currently being paid $10 mil/yr.

If we can get him for $3-5 mil... then I would definitely sign him. That fills a big need on our defense... just look at the stats for Surtain last year vs. Lehan.

I'd take Ty Law as well, and move him to safety. It worked for the Eagles with Troy Vincent.

We have so many holes, I'll take some older, cheaper, veterans, if they can still play... and fill some of these other holes with Draft picks.

it would be great for him to come back. but if he came back what # would he get. Ronnie has 23 now.
