Nick Saban Sent Pat Surtain to the chiefs before the 05 season is exchange for a 2rd round pick who is now Matt Roth.

The annoying part is that Saban announced he made this move to free up cap space to sign Randy McMicheal to a deal to make him the highest paid TE in the NFL.

Now Randy McMicheal was cut by mueller the offseason Saban Left. Proving Saban had absolutly no idea how to judge nfl calibur talent.

I was just wondering how frusterated some of u are about the fact that now we dont have one of the top notch shut down corners in the nfl because we decided to overpay an underachiever.

I am furious over this matter and makes me even happier that Saban is out and we are headed in the right direction.

Thoughts?????
 
well you could also get furious at the fact that we lost numerous first-day picks on other teams' backup QBs year after year. you could be furious that we traded two first round picks for a RB that only played for us for two years. or you could be furious that we've just flat out sucked the past 5 years.
 
i was pissed off at the time but now i dont realy mind it b/c pat isnt that good ne more, he has had troubles stayin healthy from what i heard.

ya but he wanted to stay if Miami, players are different when they are motivated and wear they want to be!

I agree.

I wouldnt be too concerned about Surtain, he is not doing as well as he used to. We did get Roth for him, I consider that a good thing. As for Mcmike, your right on that he doesnt deserve jack.
 
matt roth is the future on our DLINE, i would still make that trade in a second

but Saban didnt do the deal to get the pick he did the deal to save money for mcmike.......yes the 2nd was nice but we prob could have gotton a 2nd for mcmike not surtain!
 
Who cares now. Its time to stop living in the past and focus on the future. Saban is no longer here and we need Mueller to have a strong draft this year.
 
But if we still had Surtain we would have a sick secondary with him, bell, hill, j-allen, w-allen, t-daniels, and A-goodman
 
It was a smart move he wanted big money he was getting older we needed money for McMichael and we got a second in return(Roth)!

o0o yeah super sick...except for the fact jason allen is the only one i wouldn't take a 6th rounder for.
