It will be interesting to see who ends up the better player between Turner and Ramses Barden who the Giants traded up to get a couple of picks before us. The two players have similar size.

Barden looks a tad stiff to me whereas Turner looks fluid. Let's hope Turner becomes the better player.

Both seem to be slow. They will have to learn to use their size and beat press coverage to have a shot.

I thought if he wasnt picked 2 pics earlier that we were going to get Barden. Should be fun to watch them both.
Chubbs

Just from watching highlights alone it looked like Turner was definately the quicker of the two. Turner actually looked a lot faster than I thought he was in the highlights I saw.

I am positive that the Gnats sniped Barden from us. I was so mad.

The one thing that bothers me about turner is that he jumps everytime he catches the ball. He's like the little kid growing up trying to make a simple catch look spectacular. For a receiver being so big he should just have to reach his arms out and catch some of those balls in stride. Watch his highlights and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I do feel that where these two played ball at should indicate somewhat of their playing ability. Barden couldn't get off his man coverage at the senior bowl cause he wasn't used to that type of talent pressing him.

I do think that Barden would have been our pick if the Giants had not traded up.

You're right though, it will be interesting to see who develops into a better receiver.

I really don't understand why so many of you think Barden was gonna be our pick. You even stated yourself that he couldn't handle the big school talent at the senior bowl. If you can see this, don't you think our scouting department also so this? And if so, why do you think they STILL valued Barden more than Turner?

Just because a couple of posters on Finheaven saw his size and stats and made a thread about how great he was going to be, doesn't mean you have to blindly follow there same train of thought.

Turner plays with explosiveness and uses his size well to screen the defender from the ball. Ireland and company really like this kid and admitted that he was the one they targeted in the 3rd round. It goes to show that you hve to take the info on this site with a grain of salt and not believe everyting the Finheaven self-proclaimed experts post. Barden was NOT the pick. Nope, it was Turner all along and you guys will soon find out why.

(On if the run on wide receivers and the Giants trading up before the third round pick influenced the selection of WR Patrick Turner) – “The run on receivers didn’t have much impact on that pick at all, to be honest. We had Patrick in that round and feel real good about it. We were going to take that player regardless. We dint have to go up, we stayed right there and made the pick. We feel real good about it.”

I think Turner will have a bigger impact this yr....Barden has a lot bigger adjustment to make than Turner. Turner played in a pro style offense with tougher competition. I dont think he's going to be a world beater, but I expect him to have a bigger impact than Barden this yr.

I think Barden may have been a better choice(if was available, which he wasn't). I still like the Turner pick though. We needed a big WR and that is exactly what we got. Hopefully he is what Wilford wasn't.

I am really excited about Patrick Turner I think he could end up being a great WR for years to come.

I like the Turner pick, we need a big receiver in the red zone. Barden was who I wanted with that pick, lousy Giants! We will see who has the bigger impact

This is exactly what i was going to say. Bardens only an inch taller and from watchin highlights i agree that Turner looks smoother. Im excited to see how he adjusts to the NFL and how quickly he does it. Im glad we got a big bodied guy, its what weve been lacking. He might not be the fastest but thats what we got in Ginn & Bess, now we got some size.
