Patrick Turner started training camp on fire, full of confidence - catching everything, but it sounds like he has disappointed in all his recent sessions. I even read that he was stinking it up badly on Friday. What's happened? Is it just hitting a bit of a wall and nothing to worry about or is it the dreaded DerekHaganitis?

It's called being a rookie.

They show flashes of why they were drafted then they sprinkle in some flashes of how they still have alot to learn still.

These guys have been practicing hard for a while now. And it is hot, really hot! I think that at some point they are gonna have a bad couple days just from being beat down mentally and physically. But thats why they train this hard, because come season and game time they will be more prepared. So, I think he's been pretty darn good for a rookie WR.

Good point. There are some who do not understand the Miami heat.

I lived in Cali for a few years. When it was 105 degrees, it did not bother me anywhere near as much as 90 in Miami. The humidity is a killer. Add in our training camp which no College player could imagine, and it does take a toll.

Also, add in Turner taking snaps against first teamers. It is different but, he will be fine.

right now it's just a few practices; too soon to worry. we just don't want it to develop into a trend.

Turner, and all rookies, are trying to get the playbook down. It's not easy. You start with getting by with talent. Then you gotta think.

Leave it to coach Penny. :)

Nearly every rookie hits a rough patch in camp. I am not worried in the least.

I honestly have NO CLUE where you are getting these reports. I live right by the campus so I'm able to go out and watch every practice. The only thing I'm seeing is when a ball is thrown near Turner he simply does NOT let it hit the ground. Have not yet seen a drop from him yet in all the practices I've been to. On the other hand the one guy that consistently drops the ball is Hartline. He needs to work on his focus and it's even more apparent than it is with Ginn but I'm only giving him the benefit of the doubt because he is a rookie. Also Bess is going to be a beast this season as him and Turner look to be the two best out.

So whoever is reporting that Turner has hit a wall or is slumping, needs to seriously give their paychecks back their employer.

I saw him first hand this past tuesday. First deep pass of practice, and he just went up and over Sean smith as if I were playing 8th graders. Came back and did it again against another DB I forgot who. He's gonna be fine. Its a part of getting in DOLPHINS shape. Humidity+TOUGH workout regime=DOLPHINS CONDITIONING!!

i agree. the guy is a rookie. he's probably never endured anything remotely close to this conditioning program. he's doing a good job all things considered.

Turner was always said to be a practice team superstar, but became invisible during games. I want to see what he does Monday before I have an opinion.

Yeah i am with most of you guys he hasnt missed a practice and he probably beat. There is no way to simulate S FLA weather anywhere in the country heat and humidity wise its just something new. I have lived in the south my entire life and i am still not use to it somedays.

He will be fine he is a rookie and does have somethings still left to learn he was drafted because of his skill set not his numbers or production he needs to be molded alittle bit before he is thrown out there he will be just fine dont worry.

Rookie inconsistency. Happens. Too bad consistency is what's going to get him ahead in a packed WR corps.
