Many of you have asked how Patrick Turner is progressing and why it is he hasn't been able to get active on game day, much less catch a pass. (Yes, I'm back on the receivers). Anyway, there are several reasons when the Dolphins take four receivers to the game why Turner hasn't been one of them.

The first reason is Turner hasn't been active is Miami's pecking order has been, as of the last game, Davone Bess, Greg Camarillo, Ted Ginn Jr. and Brian Hartline. And while Hartline is every bit as much a rookie as Turner, he's learned the Dolphins offense faster and can actually play all three receiver spots in a pinch.

"To Brian's credit, he knows all three positions and that is the difference," coach Tony Sparano said. "I think you talk about how he has progressed ... this guy knows all three positions. He can go into the game at any one of those at any moment in the game and handle the workload."

Maybe he's starting to get it? This is another strong practice I believe?

I like how the coaching staff shows importance on knowing all 3 receiver positions, this just adds to the statement of them being a very hard working receiving core, they're a #1 reciever away from being a good group of recievers

I dont think Patrick Turner should be getting as much hate as it seems around here.. just because we have 4 guys ahead of him right now doesn't mean he isn't going to be a player in this league eventually.. Ide expect we will get to see him before the season is done.

to me he looked to weak to be the big #1 type of receiver anyways, Hopefully he is getting those hands super strong so we finally have someone to fight for a freakin ball..

Maybe Turner is just a gamer. Sort of like Merling. Turner was doing well early in camp from all reports then hit a wall and fell off the map. It would be nice to see what he can do in a real game.

No homer, how about, the phin WR's are mediocre at best, the #9 over all pick from two years ago has been a huge bust, along with his family, and Turner is stuck on your scout team because he just isn't that good and can't beat out the mediocre players ahead of him?

Turner cant beat out anyone because of the type of players sparano likes. people who can play more than "1 position"

Bess- Punt return & Wideout
Ginn-kick return & wideout
Camarillo-plays on kick coverage(before the acl tear)now wideout only.
Hartline-gunner for kick off and punts. also plays wideout.

Turner is a rookie and he will get his chances this year to show if he's worth activating as just a wide receiver.

You need to try again and other than Cotchery the jets have no better wide outs than the dolphins do. ***don't tell anyone but cotchery hurt his quad***

i love the fat man, but this myopic "two jobs" thing is kinda stale. other teams get by with offense/defense only players...we have a couple as well. maybe like others have stated, Patrick is that kind of player. if he can do the one thing well, and we benefit with td after td after td, etc., who'll care if he's a "one job". anyone? anyone?

That's my point, But think about it.. if it wasn't for davone bess being a "Special teamer" if it was for camarillo being a "special teamer" neither of them would be on the team right now, So thats obviously a big part to what sparano wants.. im sure if we had an andre johnson type talent in Turner he would already know from practice though.

Other than Cotchery?

Ever hear of Braylon Edwards?

Cotchery didn't hurt his quad, it was his hamstring, and he's most likely playing tomorrow, not a big injury.

Braylon Edwards hasn't shown that he is better than Davone Bess or Ted Ginn this year or last year Sorry,

That says a lot too Ted Ginn is playing like Crap and Davone bess is pretty slow

You can't be serious?

Ted Ginn has been a monumental bust

Edwards, the #3 overall pick 4 years ago

Pro Bowl in 07

You can't be this dumb!!

I'm well aware of Edwards issues, most of it had to do with the team he's been on, the QB's that have sucked around him, but he is a major talent when his head is screwed on right, he needed a change of scenery like no other player, nobody can question his talent, he's young, and a player the Jets had a major need for.

LOL the jets traded for a guy on a contract year.. first of all.
im pretty sure they traded the Same pick they might be giving the eagles for lito sheppard if he ever gets healthy and plays, which means it will have to be a 2nd and 5th not a 3rd.. seems like a heavy price to pay for 10 games.

Derek Anderson threw for 3700 yards in 07 also, one year wonders happen man.. he hasn't done anything other than that one year.

you are just blowing smoke out your ***.
do me a favor go find a contruction site, sit on one of those orange cones and tell the road workers how good the jets are. maybe they wont see the smoke

Devon Bess is on this team because he is the best WR on the team right now.

To say Bess wouldn't be on this team because he is a special teams player also is a joke.
