From NFL.com:

"Willis had a complete workout at the Combine. He ran two 40s in 4.51 and 4.53, the short shuttle in 4.46 and the cone drill in 7.23. He also had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-11 long jump and did 21 bench presses. Willis worked out again on March 20 at Mississippi's Pro Day and ran 4.57 and 4.38 at a weight of 237 pounds."

I had no idea. That's nuts! I know we don't need him, but as far as I'm concerned, he's as much a sure thing as is Calvin Johnson.

That's been established. He's the best MLB prospect in years.

I believe that to be true, but does that mean Mueller might take him?

Meuller will take the best player available on his board.

He HAS TO BE the BPA available on our board when we pick. How can he not be? If Meuller is as smart as he seems to be, Willis is probably 5th behind Johnson, Russell, Thomas and Peterson.

Could make for an interesting decision if we stay at #9. He very well could be the top person sitting there in front of us at #9 and do you take the high talent, depsite not really needing him a this point ? Or do you try and trade down with someone else who will be highly coveting him ? I would be very tempted to take the elite talent, but I'm not Cam/Mueller, so I guess that's why they pay them the big bucks ! :D

I believe that if Quinn, Landry, Russell,Thomas and Peterson are gone before the 9th pick, Miami will select the BPA which may very well be Willis. Mueller needs to infuse this team with young impact players. One of the failings the Dolphins have had over the past 5-6 years is the drafting of players based on immediate needs. This approach eventually lowers the overall talent level of the team and catches up to you. Mueller will select the highest rated player on the board. If that is Willis, he will picked.

LANDRY = TOP 5!

Now that i've got that out of my system. I'm all for Willis. However, if we drafted Willis, that would mean we'd have 3 starting caliber MLB's on our defense.

(Willis, Thomas, and Crowder). And yes, Crowder is a MLB, he plays OLB like a MLB. Lots of tackles, virtually no sacks. hes a MLB.

But if we drafted willis, i wouldn't say i'd be upset. It would mean we could eventually swithc to a real 3-4 and have both crowder and Willis inside after Thomas is either let go or retires in the not to distant future.

thats crazy fast for a linebacker but no new news. i have known that for about 3 weeks now. thats why he is 10-20 in the draft

So he's run 4 times - 4.51, 4.53, 4.57, and 4.38.

That's called being an outlier, not indicative of what he'll give you on any given play. We'd have to move down a couple spots to consider him.

His speed is not the only thing he brings to the table, he is a great player too.
He would be some great insurance for an aged middle linebacker corp.

Crowder is our future MLB, but if we stay in the 3-4 scheme than we could use him. you need two inside LBs in the scheme and right now while we have Thomas we could move Crowder to OLB. when Porter or Taylor is lined up at DE we do need a OLB

I don't doubt that. I just think that he's not going to give 4.38 speed on 90% of the plays.

The poster/link is wrong. He ran a 4.37 and a 4.38 at his pro day. He ran a 4.49 and a 4.51 at the combine. He also had a 39 inch vertical, not 35. I emailed them about that, but they haven't changed it. Crazy NFL.com site...

And as far as moving down a couple of spots to get him, Detroit is absolutely enamored by Willis, but is looking to move down inside 10 to get him. Do not be surprised if Minny takes a long look at him at 7, either. That is, of course, if Brady Quinn is not in the mix.
