Guy flat out showed up yesterday at the senior bowl. He's a big time hitter that plays sideline to sideline and has the versatility to play either the middle or the outside. We need to add some depth and athleticism at LB and Willis would be a great fit from day 1. He had a phenomenal year as a senior, and is very underrated in my eyes. Yes he might a bit of a reach at 9, but I want a guy that can step in from day 1 and start for us. And hey, he's a character guy which goes unnoticed these days, but is very important. You know what your getting with this guy.

I'd be extremely happy with the Willis pick for the Phins...

He's my man by far, but as much as I would like to see him on this team, 9 is a stretch for me, too. I truly believe he is one of the best talents coming to the draft this year on the defensive side of the ball. This draft is very deep this year, and he may end up going into the 2nd round, but Mike Nolan has been noticing Willis all week and has been qouted as saying that Willis was more impressive in this week's practices than DeMeco Ryans was last year. That's pretty good company. Because Singletary is on his staff, this may help the Niners lean the way of Willis when they pick.

He is a sick talent. I wouldnt be opposed to picking him at 9... but I keep hearing him discussed as a 2nd round pick. If we some how got him in Rd 2... I would be going nuts...

he is a tampa 2 LB and a WOLB for 3-4. thats it as the eexperts say

and that's exactly what we need. We have nothing at that position. Donnie Spragen was invisible all season and we had nobody good enough to beat him out.

Patrick Willis reminds me of the Denver LBs; Ian Gold, Al Wilson, & D.J. Williams. All of these guys are fast and can flat out hit.

I can see him running in a Tampa 2. For those are unfamiliar with this defensive style, it's basically 4-3-2-2. The defensive players are usually very athletic and are responsible for "their gap". Simplistic scheme, highly athletic players. A play off of this is the Cover 2. Several teams have adopted the "Tampa"; including Minny, Barfalo, and Indy.

I like him. I think he will be a solid player and my own pick for DRoY next year. But I think there will be more talented players in the draft at the 9th pick. He will be a very nice linebacker but there is positions of bigger impact then linebackers (which are harder to find and fill) that will be there to find at the top 10 from LT's to big time impact rushers to offensive playmakers.

I would not be upset over willis to the fins there. But I think just because the talent on the board we will go another way and pick a later round Linebacker to add depth to the team.

If a player like Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson is there you cant pass up a talent and impact rusher like them for Willis despite how good he could potentially be.

I agree. I think Jamaal Anderson may be better than Adams, IMO, but either would be great!

I am a huge Willis supporter because of how he had to overcome many trials in his life. He helped support his family as early as the age of 11. His father was pretty abusive and his mother was not around because of issues with drugs. He was finally put into a foster home at around 14. This had an impact on his life as far as grades were concerned and he did not get alot of looks from big-named schools because of this. He could have easily gone wrong from this point. But Ole Miss gave him a shot and he has made the best of it. He graduated early with a degree in Criminal Justice. He has made the Dean's List. Willis is always helping out in the Oxford community. He is high character all the way around. And I like that. I feel he will be a very productive LB in the NFL, but 9th is a bit of a stretch. If Miami were picking 12-17, I'd feel differently....

All Willis does is make plays

and he never gets the credits he deserves...he probably won't go as high as 9...but he deserves to.
