Patriots | Team could move up for Gholston

Dave Hutchinson, of The Star-Ledger, reports the New England Patriots could consider moving up to No. 5 in the 2008 NFL Draft to pick Ohio State DL Vernon Gholston.

This adds fule to the fire. Who wants their guy more...the Rams or the Patriots?

I want to take Gholston w/#1 pick, but if the Patriots intend to "sell the farm" then i'm all for it.

That would be great if they wanted him so bad that they were willing to trade with us. It just makes me ill that they have a top 5 pick. The Commish should have taken away the option of them having a number 1 pick, not just theirs. That way they would actually feel the punishment.

They dont have a top 5, they pick @ 7, but it is still equally as sickening. They shouldnt have any 1st day picks and should be 17-2 forfeiting that game to the Jests

They actually pick #7, not #5. It says they may trade up to #5, which makes sense. They can snatch up Gholston before the Jets get a chance. I think the Raiders will get him at #4. It's a bad scenario either way for the Dolphins. The Jets will probably get either Gholston or McFadden, the Pats will at the least get the first CB. I don't think the Pats will even consider moving up to #1. Especially since it would be with the Fins. Seems very unlikely.

IMO Raiders take McFatty @4, KC takes Gholston/Dorsey, Jets take Gholston/Dorsey leaving who knows for NE. Ellis?, Albert? Trade down?

Good let them trade up. I could care less. They have a 50/50 shot of landing a success. The less picks NE has the better.

It doesn't matter whether they draft early or late in rounds, the thing that was so great about NE is it always seemed like they had multiple picks in every round.

So let them trade away picks, makes it less likely they will be able to trade those for better ones next year which is exactly how and why they have the 49'ers pick this year. Anyone remember what pick the Pats gave up last year to get a top 7 this year?

fugg the patsies. have a distinct feeling that without prior knowledge of what the defense is doing, brady is going to look oh so average next year. one of the only reasons why i wouldn't be mad if we took chris is b/c that's one more guy to put brady on his back.

I meant top 10 pick and that they would move up to 5, the dislexia was coming into play there...

i dont buy it. maybe they are scared we want Long CHRIS so they wana act like Ghol is the better prospect and we'll bite on him instead of Long because reports several months ago were NE really likedddd C Long. Too bad if thats the case they didnt realize its BP here and not SPEILMAN or MUELLER where we get scared and take others bluffs. BP takes who he wants. Ofcourse all this is only if they are trying to make it seem like "We are the champs of the past 23424 yrs adn we know talent so Ghol is the better guy and hopefully our rivals will take him out of insecurity in their own judgements."

if i remember correctly, they traded down, giving their #1 to the 49ers (Joe Staley), and they got San Fran's 2nd

I could see gholsten going to Oakland anyways. Depends on Mcfadden, which I believe NE wants as well.

I don't buy it either. Why would they trade up for a guy that projects better as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB?

he projects well as a RUSH 3-4 OLB but i dotn see them moving up for that. they have a bigger need at CB then LB for one and two its not PAT like to say what they want to do then let alone move up. its total BS on their behalf tryin to fark with our heads (miami dolphins) i believe.

I think this thread belongs in the General NFL or AFC East section...what does this have to do with the Phins???
