The New England Patriots, who failed to make the National Football League playoffs this season, are favored to win the Super Bowl next year by Las Vegas oddsmakers.

The Patriots, with former Most Valuable Player Tom Brady’s probable return at quarterback after a knee injury sidelined him for most of the season, are 6-1 favorites to win the NFL championship on Feb. 7, 2010, according to Las Vegas Sports Consultants, which advises casinos on betting lines. The team was undefeated last season until losing the Super Bowl to the New York Giants.
The Texans are a 40-1 shot for the title.
“The Patriots coming into this year were overwhelming favorites based on what they did last year,” said Mike Seba, Sports Consultants’ senior oddsmaker. “They’re going to have pretty much the same team as long as Brady comes back, so they should be the favorites again.”
Tom Brady's health is the difference whether they're Super Bowl contenders or not next year according to Las Vegas. I agree with that, I don't think they're Super Bowl contenders if he isn't back, and there's a chance he won't be, but I get the feeling he will be healthy next season.

Key word is early. Let them be the favorites. I've seen them lose with Tom Brady before and now he's coming back from a serious injury. I dont care what they say up in New England that Defense is getting old.

When the Jets played them up there they had no answer for Dustin Keller because you cant stick old men like Brushci and Vrabel on him and Mayo can only be in one place at a time. Rodney Harrison is very overrated at this point in his career. He is a 36 year old man. It's going to be harder and harder for him to cover deep pass plays to guys like Ginn and Cotchery. I really hope all their old guys come back in prominent roles.

You saw both the Jets and Dolphins go up there and beat them. There a good team and yeah Brady and Thomas coming back will help but there getting old on defense.

Old defence ??

Dustin keller had a good game as guyton and mayo ended up in the same zone often had 4 rookies iin the back 7 which lead to breakdowns

Even if Brady plays next year, the Patriots will not win the Super Bowl next season. I seriously doubt they win another before Brady retires.

They will be tough and formidable, however the rest of the NFL has caught up with them.

Why is the media still obssessed with the Patriots? They haven't won a Super Bowl in how long?

I wonder if the Patriots would reunite Ray Lewis and Adalius Thomas lol. I think there's some bad blood between them ever since Adalius left but I don't know maybe they can work it out.

Its not a bad shout considering the amount of injuries they suffered last year. Was quite an achievement to go 11-5 wth as many guys out as they had.

But, its totally up in the air at this stage.

Its just a prediction by some website , it absolutely has no value.

how many can predict what is going to happen in one year ...lol

I'm ready for the Patriots to be a ****ty team again. Hurry. Please.
Its coming, dont worry. You cant keep replenishing old players with old players. Their time will come. Father time will pay a visit and suddenly Tom Brady's attempt at facial hair will be grayer than usual and he will br front and center on a lame "just for men" commercial. Tom your beard is wierd, your stache is trash. Karma is a hungry fat woman...only so long before she eats!

ZZZZZZZZ...what old players do they replenish their system with?

Karma?

So if you were correct about karma.... Wouldn't going through an entire 2007 season being trashed, ridiculed and disrespected by the media for spygate, losing the final game of the season in the Super Bowl to end a perfect season from a ball sticking to someones helmet while Rodney Harrison is hanging off their arm, start the following year with the best QB in the NFL getting his knee blown out half way through the 1st quarter, suffering significant injuries and sending 15 players to the IR and then missing the playoffs at an 11-5 record (2nd time in league history) based on a tie breaker cover the whole "karma will get you" argument?

They also suffered a loss to the Colts in the 2006 AFCCG where the Colts came back from the biggest deficit ever to beat them. The year before that, they suffered 5 turnovers to the Denver Broncos and were eliminated from the playoffs as well.

Seems Karma has caught up with them and they still fight hard and put themselves in contention every year. If you think the Patriots are going to just "fade away" back into mediocrity, you're incredibly naive. They're a very well run organization and are setup for long term success. Brady going down and us still being in the hunt with 11 wins proves that.

Its always funny to read people talk about "karma" though in regards to the Patriots. Those people obviously do not have a full grasp on the concept of karma or what it actually means. Should hard work, talent and dedication should be offset by "negative karma" ???

I'm sure Brady had a blast having 2 major ligaments in his knee torn. I'm also sure he enjoyed the reconstructive surgery that came shortly after, along with a fun infection that required additional surgery. I'm sure hes enjoyed sitting on the sidelines throughout the entire 2008 season as a competitor and has enjoyed doing countless hours of rehab every single day on his knee.

BETTER WATCH IT BRADY! KARMA IS COMIN FOR YA! Some people confuse me... Should Brady die in a car accident tomorrow to complete this equivalent exchange that is karma? For all the success you have in your life, should there be an equal amount of failure, pain and distress as well?

If you believe that, then you should probably start reading up on Buddhism, Karma and all of that a bit more to fully understand what you're talking about.
